"Is this the cutest shop in Cannon Beach - YES! tucked in a cute little alleyway of shop, Basalt is ceramic studio, local artist gift shop by day and secret ramen shop by night! Basalt is the best place to find quality gifts and art by local/regional artist. The owner is an artist herself and makes her ceramics on site! After hours, sit at the counter and make yourself some delicious instant ramen. Truly a unique experience to be had, and a must stop on the Oregon Coast."

"This is the coolest shop in all of Cannon Beach. You will find the most amazing pieces of art both by resident artist Michelle Valigura and other artists from up and down the west coast whose work Michelle has procured for her shop to share with Cannon Beach. Michelle is such a talented ceramicist, all of her work is so creative, so unique, and each piece is truly one of a kind. The art that I purchased from Michelle at Basalt studio has been so cherished in my home and is absolutely timeless. You will most likely get to see her in action in the midst of creating her newest clay mixture or unique ceramic pieces that she creates. 10/10, this shop is a much visit for all."

The proprietor employs a fascinating process using foraged local clay to create one-of-a-kind tableware that embodies the spirit of the Oregon Coast. She even fires the pottery in a kiln on-site! Also featured are offerings from other coastal artisans, including prints, tapestry and other fun items. One of my favorite shops in town!"
