"Several years ago, as a college student, I took my $4,700 Specialized Enduro Expert to this shop with the specific aim of having the $1,200 Fox fork serviced. After picking up my bike, I immediately tested it and found that the adjustment knobs on the fork were not functioning correctly. I returned to the shop the very next day to address this glaring issue. Not only did they refuse to repair the malfunctioning fork, but they also denied offering even a partial refund. Left with no alternatives, I took my bicycle to Bicycle Barn for a proper repair. Bicycle Barn promptly sent the faulty fork to Fox for specialized servicing, and it returned in perfect working order. The contrast in service quality and customer care between the two establishments could not have been more glaring. Due to the inadequate service at the initial shop, I had to pay for the same repair twice, substantially inflating my $180 bill for a proper service from Fox Shox. This regrettable episode compelled me to shift all my bicycle-related business to Bicycle Barn permanently. After participating in community biking events organized by Bicycle Barn, I discovered they are widely regarded as the preferred service provider in the community, which only reinforced my decision to cease any dealings with the original shop. Though the initial shop provided a lower quote, the eventual cost became significantly higher because of the second repair at Bicycle Barn. I think that one of the reasons I didn't go with Bicycle Barn to begin with is because they had to send the fork out which takes time, but in hindsight this was the correct decision to make. I wouldn't trust a shop to do any kind of service who treats their customers the way this shop did. I hope this review serves as a cautionary tale. At the time I was a college student, and the financial setback dealt by their unscrupulous practices had significant impact on me—one that may not be as consequential to me today, but the sense of injustice remains indelible. If the current management persists in its practices, as evidenced by their defensive responses to other reviews—often citing their 18 years in business as justification—I strongly recommend considering more reputable alternatives. These damage control comments not only fail to address legitimate concerns but also reveal an inability to admit mistakes. Such behavior calls into question their ethical standing and reliability. May this review steer potential customers toward more trustworthy businesses, thereby impacting this shop's revenue far more than the loss I incurred."
