"Tyler is AMAZING! She’s cut my hair since 2018 and done really pretty highlights too. The salon space is super zen, I highly recommend!!"
"I feel so lucky to have connected with Desiree as my stylist when she moved to Portland years ago. She is so very gifted at what she does! She is flexible, smart, a great listener, and her heart is golden. Now my sons go to her as well and she feels like such an important part of our family. She and Tyler are good vibes and run a very professional salon."
"I would first like to say I am broken hearted writing this review. Tyler has been cutting my hair for years and she’s done a beautiful job on it. She’s also done a great job with color. When she opened her own salon, I followed her. I had a fantastic cut on August 9th and booked another appt for about 4 weeks later for color and gray coverage before a very important 2 month trip out of the country where I would be attending conferences and would be part of a photoshoot for a project I worked on. I was so excited. I had stopped using Olaplex about 6 months ago (it never damaged my hair but I stopped seeing as many benefits) and had been using Vegamour but I asked at the salon if they recommended any of their shampoos and conditioners. I bought the set I was told to. When I went to wash my hair later that week, it felt awful. Even in the shower it felt like straw. I rinsed it out, I used my old heavy conditioner and went to sleep. I woke up to what I can only describe as Hagrid after a week at Burning Man. My hair was frizzy and brittle and also crunchy? I was horrified and tried rinsing and adding heavy conditioner (no protein. I did this for two weeks. There was some improvement. Prior to my color appt, I reached out to Tyler and told her what was happening. She first tried to blame Olaplex, which again, had not used since January. Then said it probably wasn’t that bad, after all just shampoo. I keep masking. I arrive for the appt in a good mood, thinking she will fix this. It’s just shampoo I used once. Maybe it was a bad batch of the product. She refunds me the cost of product. She starts to comb through my hair and this is where it all goes downhill. My hair is awful. I can see it on her face that her comb is struggling and my hair is not my usual texture. I start to cry. She assures me we can cover my grays and do a gloss and that will help. But she keeps combing and suddenly she’s making a face. We decide to cut 2 inches off the bottom, dry, to see what we are working with. I am sobbing. She then asks me if I think stress did this to my hair (my dad did die two months ago but I am pretty sure stress causes hair fall, not split ends, but I am no scientist) and then if I was still on medication for my autoimmune disease (which I have been on for 10 years). I am still crying but also now about being gaslit because as someone with an autoimmune disease having all your ills be blamed on stress is really frustrating. Then she tells me my hair “feels fine in the back” but also that she isn’t going to touch anything. Like at all. Not even a non-bleach dye to cover my gray roots. Not a conditioning treatment. Not a gloss. I absolutely understand that she didn’t feel comfortable with bleaching like usual (I do an ombre at the ends, we do not bleach roots or anything), but NOTHING??? I leave the salon sobbing. I arrive home sobbing. I call around but no one else has an opening before I leave on my trip. I am devastated so I send her a text begging her to help me. Anything at all, please, as I have spent a fortune on these photos for work and I cannot get my money back so close to the event. I received a message this morning saying that she was already having a stressful time in her personal life and she could not take on MY stress right now. Gobsmacked is how I feel. I don’t want to write this review but when hair cuts are over $100 and color treatments are upwards of $300-400 and you come faithfully for years, follow someone to a new salon, and put your faith in them that a product they recommend will be good and then THIS is how you are treated… it’s actually horrifying. I have also reached out to the company that makes the shampoo (Mr. Smith) because their product wrecked my hair and I don’t blame Tyler for the product wrecking my hair— I just blame her for not doing anything for a faithful client sobbing in her salon. Just know this is the product line the salon uses and you can look at my photos to see if that’s a risk you want to take or not. pic 1: before, 2 leaving salon yesterday, 3 day after washing"
"Desiree is an amazing stylist and human being! My hair has never looked better in FIFTY YEARS of obsessing over it. She is a patient magician, engaging and sweet. I will be a client for life so I guess she'll just have to get used to it."
"Tyler and Studio 1202 were awesome. The space is so cute and everyone was very welcoming. It was my first time seeing Tyler and she took such amazing care of my hair. She gave my exactly what I wanted, I could not have asked for a better stylist. I feel like the best version of myself after this cut! I will be back and would absolutely recommend!"
