Reviews of The Pit
"I was surprised that a $15 sandwich didn't come with fries or at least some chips, but figured I'd still try it. Ordered a $4 side of baked beans. Got the order and had instant regret. The baked bean side was maaaaybe half a cup and was nothing special. The sandwich was small, with not much meat, and on a cheapo bun. The meat was decently cooked, but heavy on some pretty meh BBQ sauce. Not, like, bad food, but not worth $19, even these days, and there were waaaaaay better alternatives right next door."
"There are a lot of good options at The Heist Bar & Food Carts, and I don't think that this should be a first choice, even if you're really into barbecue. Understandably, it's stationed near the entrance and it smells phenomenal just outside, plus the cart itself looks snazzy. However, their servings of meat are pretty for what you get and I don't think that their sauce tastes like anything special. Their loaded fries were pretty underwhelming."
"Went there last week to have lunch with my wife, and thought I'd try The Pit. I ordered the brisket sandwich, and the parmesan garlic fries. For $24.00, my expectations were high..it was furthest from the truth. The brisket sandwich was smothered in BBQ sauce, and had a pickle and slaw on it. The brisket was tough, and not edible. Not sure when it was made, but it certainly wasn't fresh; the fries weren't much better. The fries didn't seem deep fried, but maybe boiled, and tossed in garlic and Parmesan. Soft and inedible. Don't waste your money at that place."
"Best BBQ in Portland! Super nummy favors and very friendly staff. I had the brisket sandwich, it was perfectly tender and juicy. The BBQ sauce was mouth-watering goodness. I was very happy with my choice of sweet potato fries and the dipping sauce was tasty. I heard great things about their slushies, and I loved the watermelon lemon! I highly recommend!"
"Went there for lunch today, I ordered the 3 meat BBQ box, all the meats were delicious. My husband got the brisket with a side of Parmesan garlic fries, also delicious. I liked getting the little electronic buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. The staff was friendly. Will definitely be back!"
