Sunrise Family Dental: Susan Wong DDS

"I recently went to Dr. Susan Xu-Wong for a teeth cleaning. I am new to the area, so did not have a established dentist yet. This office is very small, two employees in total. The dentist did the teeth cleaning instead of a dental hygienist. Everyone was very friendly. Dr. Wong talked a lot! She was so focused on telling me how to cook duck that it did not feel like she was paying attention to what she was doing. She even forgot what she was doing a couple of times because she kept stopping with the cleaning to tell her story. My teeth usually feel very smooth and clean after getting them cleaned by a hygienist, but it did not feel the same here. Honestly, my teeth did not feel fresh or clean. I did not require x-rays since I had them done within 6 months prior. Dr. Wong only needed to request my x-rays from my other dentist for my file. When I received my bill, I had a procedure code called diagnostic for $50. I have never had to pay for teeth cleaning at any other dentist, so I was confused on what this charge was for. I left a voicemail, but had not received a call back. I called the insurance company for help and was told that they have never seen that code before, so she looked it up. She explained to me that the code was for Dr. Wong charging me $50 to look at my x-rays. Really?? She didn't even need to look at my x-rays for my appointment. Dr. Wong said that my teeth looked great. The x-rays were viewed after my appointment, so I am not sure why I am getting charged for it. By the way, this charge is not covered by the insurance. I have now left two voicemails and hopefully I will hear back from the second call. I am very disappointed to see that Dr. Wong is charging such a frivolous fee to look at x-rays that were transferred from another dentist. At this point, I won't be going back as I not only felt that the office was very unprofessional, but it comes across that fees are being charged to make her extra money. If you go to this dentist, make sure you check your bill for any of these unnecessary charges."

"I had an urgent need to see Dr. Wong. I called mid-week and Roweena was able to accommodate me with an appointment on the following Monday. I had been here for exams and teeth cleaning, etc. before covid, and when I entered the office, it was as if I had never left. I was warmly greeted by Dr. Wong and Roweena and I was soon sitting comfortably in an exam chair. There was an x'ray, an exam of the tooth, and no problems found. What a treat it was to be here. I am returning for a cleaning in a month. Thank you, Dr. Wong."

"This is one of the greatest dental offices I’ve ever been to. My husband and I have had cleanings and fillings done both experiences were wonderful. Dr. Xu-Wong is amazing at what she does. She also has a great bedside manner and is very friendly. My favorite part about this practice is Rowena. She is efficient, friendly, and helpful. I have never met a staff member at a medical practice (and I’ve been to a lot) as dedicated and professional as herself. We love this office!"
