"Was looking for a couple of central Oregon coast retailers to give me bids on installing a wood burning stove in my garage/work shop. I called Coast Hearth & Home. Wasn't overly excited about what I would learn from them based on their reviews. Having done this kind of work for myself in the past I wanted to hear what they had to say. A very nice gentleman in a very nice vehicle arrived soon to take a literal second or two to look around. Then he proceeded to tell me things that I knew were not what I wanted or needed in my situation. And he gave me *ONE* option they supply for my needs. WAS NOT IMPRESSED.... Then I called Groth-Gates Heating and Sheet Metal. I spoke with Toby who offered an abundance of options for my needs. He even worked through his in-house guy who pulls permits for this kind of work to go a step further on telling me exactly how I can legally do the work myself again! From permit to final inspection! My home insurance agent had already told me it was required to be professionally installed in order to insure it. WRONG!!! Toby educated me to the extent I was able to call my insurance agent back to dispute her original claim -- to which she laughed and agreed that there would be no problem insuring my property if I did the work myself. And??? There would be NO rate increase to my homeowner's policy! Do your homework people! It always pays off. It's no wonder Groth-Gates Heating has such outstanding reviews! This company has already earned my 100% confidence and I WILL be working with them once I make my decision to move forward. Ask for Toby! Tell him the Scotsman sent you. You will be glad you did!"

"This really is a zero star review. We had a technician come out to replace a part on our furnace. We asked him the price on the part before he replaced it. He went out to his truck and came back in with the box and said the part was $10. It took him one hour to replace the part. He spent another half hour trying to sell us on a heat pump. We received a bill with a total amount of $250 - no break down whatsoever. When we called we learned that we were being charged, 2 hours service time and $58 for the part. We disputed the charges and were told that either we pay the entire bill or we'll be sent to collections. We will be reporting this business to the BBB and will see them in small claims court if they turn us into collections. Use ANY other company - this place is fraudulent!"
