Reviews of Unichip of North America
"Buyer Beware- Avoid this company at all costs- I had a unit that was covered under warranty which caused my car to break down and ultimately not run at all. From the initial process of taking over a month to receive my order, to dealing with extremely poor customer service each time I had to deal with Unichip, this has been the worst business I have dealt with to date. **** has been unprofessional, unethical, defensive, and directly violated his own warranty terms. After assuring me he would not be sending me the same unit that gave me problems, I received the exact unit with the same serial number. I have tried working with **** at Unichip and have not made any progress, which is why I posted this complaint. I have also posted a complaint to the BBB and will continue to take whatever means necessary to get the word out to potential customers so they do not have a similar experience. Let me break this down by false statements provided by **** and direct quotes from his emails: "Although the complaint is listed as "Guarantee or Warranty Issues," customer currently possesses a replacement kit provided in terms with, and fulfilling the requirements of, our warranty." Here is a quote from **** from Unichip on 4-7 ****, Nobody ever said (1) that we weren't going to support you under warranty and (2) we were going to send you back a unit that we couldn't find any issues with. Our standard is and has always been that if we can find a fault we correct the fault and if we can't find the fault we replace the entire kit. We have not found any faults other than the melted tubing I mentioned previously so we'll replace the kit. Not because you so eloquently told us to do so, but because that is our standard warranty procedure. And on 4-9 from **** at Unichip You have no interest in using the kit again so I saw no rush to replace the parts. I have no need or interest to battle over dates and emails, all I was trying to say is that it's only been a week since I said I'd like to give it another week and you said yes. If you feel the need to "win", ok, you win. As I said, we will send a replacement kit per our policy which was always my intent. You'll be able to sell it and move on with your life; there's no productive reason to battle it out. **** and on 4-25 when the serial number came into question: **** from Unichip: ****, Please remove the bubble wrap and send me a photo of the new Unichip. **** Low and behold, the unit was the exact unit I had sent back, after I had been assured I would receive a complete replacement kit. **** claimed I was making assertions and false accusations and that my claim was without merit. So it would seem **** is the one making assertions and accusations that my claim is inaccurate or without merit, which is a flat out lie. ****directly stated he would send a replacement because it was their warranty policy. I received the exact same unit with the same serial, meaning **** directly violated his own warranty policy. **** stated "Customer's conclusion and accusations are without merit and demonstrably incorrect." When you read the direct quotes above, what part of this is without merit and demonstratively incorrect? I received the same unit that originally gave me problems and cannot sell it or use it for that reason. **** claims he will support anyone who purchases the unit, but he also claimed he would send me a replacement. **** is correct in that you can see a pattern if you follow the email trail. Poor customer service, lies, and violation of his own direct statement of what he defines as his warranty policy. Take my word, avoid this company at all costs or you will inevitably have an extremely frustrating experience. The warranty will not be honored if and when your car breaks down. Customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with hands down. Thank you,"
