Lincoln Beach
About the Business
Lincoln Beach, located at 13904 Hayne Boulevard in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a historic tourist attraction with a rich cultural significance. Established in the early 1900s as a recreational area for African Americans, Lincoln Beach featured amusement rides, games, restaurants, a swimming pool, and live music performances by renowned musicians.
Closed since 1964, the site has deteriorated over time due to lack of maintenance and hurricane impacts, resulting in unsafe conditions. In response to community proposals, a Master Plan is being developed by Sasaki, Inc. to revitalize Lincoln Beach. Community engagement meetings are ongoing to gather input on the future of the site.
The City of New Orleans is prioritizing quality of life issues and aims to address immediate needs at Lincoln Beach through construction contracts scheduled for the first quarter of 2024. Access to the site is currently prohibited, but unauthorized use has been observed. The Site Assessment report provides details on the condition of the beach and necessary mitigation activities.

Reviews
"It was a cold windy day so I just stood on top of hill and gazed over, it was nice to see and smell the ocean and imagine what used to be."
"A “secret” beach! We went early in the morning when no one was around. I really enjoyed the art and the trees on the beach. Even though there were many, many trash receptacles, there was still a little bit of trash about. I can’t wait to see how this magical place develops!"
"Such a beautiful hidden gem!! So glad we discovered it. The adventure getting to it was quite fun and really out of the box! Can’t wait to return and be able to get into the water!"
"Great place to take the family for a day out on the water. We did some fishing and swimming they do have grills and picnic areas."
"Low key beach. I like going to places the locals hang out and this was a nice chill location and family friendly. Just gotta hop the fence and cross the railroad tracks and enter thru the brick entrance. Ladies don’t wear your heels."
