Reviews of Shaggy Dog Care moved to Florida
"Unprofessional. The texts messages trying to schedule an appointment, were weird from the beginning. Then on the day of the appointment, no one was there and none of my calls or text messages were responded to. Something fishy. Would not recommend."
"Does excellent grooming Ace & I highly recommend Tammy ."
"Absolutely the worse grooming that are dogs ever had, and she wanted to use the excuse that they were matted which was not the case at all and if you look back on other reviews she uses the excuse of dogs being matted all the time. We also had an issue on time of pick up the hours on the door says 7:30 - 5:00, my husband said that he should pick them up between 3:30 and 4:00 the lady called us at 3:20 wondering if we were coming to pick up our dogs and very rude and complained. Funny thing she wanted get rude when she wanted to argue the time even though both times my husband dropped them off at 7:30 she didn’t get there until 8:15 and we didn’t complain at all!!! Do not recommend!!!!!!"
"I boarded my 2 dogs here over the weekend and asked about costs on grooming before bringing them. Meredith stated that she would be fair on the price but she needed to look at them. When I dropped them off on Friday morning, I asked again what the cost would be. She, again, stated that they would be fair. I told her I would call her on Monday to ask about the price then, since she was busy with another customer. (This would probably mean that I wanted to know the price before my dogs were groomed, right?) So I call first thing Monday morning, around 7:45 to make sure I spoke with her before she groomed them. (With how pushy she was about the "fair price" I had a feeling she was going to groom them before calling me.) I spoke with her assistant who said Meredith was not in yet. I gave her the run down, my dogs were boarded there and Meredith needed to tell me a price on them before they were groomed. The assistant stated "for those dogs it's $35 a piece." I said ok, does that include their nails? She said, "oh yes, that includes the nails and ear cleaning" she also said it included the glands expressed but didn't use those words (I can't remember exactly the words, but it meant their glands expressed). Anyway, I agree to the 35 because that's what I'm normally charged in Longview for the same services. So, the assistant calls me back after the dogs are done and says that they had to have a full groom because of how matted they are (mind you, I brush my dogs every Sunday). Immediately I'm not happy because, I was not called about this "full groom" and am now wondering what they are going to charge. Now, remember I already had a feeling they were going to do something like this in the beginning, which is why I stressed that I would call for pricing. I arrive, and Meredith tells me that the price has over doubled! Per dog! When I tell her that the assistant told me $35, the assistant pops her head around the corner and says "no, I told you 45". Which was not true, but regardless I should've been called first. (I would've still agreed to 45 because it would've meant I wouldn't have to load them back up and take them to Longview). When I stated that I should have been called first, Meredith said, "maybe I should've called you first, but i was just doing what was best for the dogs" then she tells me that Petsmart doesn't have trained professionals doing the grooming (my ex used to run a Petsmart district, and the groomers are trained, but still besides the point). So $75 per dog? and Petsmart charges me 51 for one dog, and 57 for the other for the works! She was then very rude and snippy, telling me she could've done other dogs today but chose to do mine instead. (How is that my fault, and why are you being so rude?) When I told her she didn't need to be rude to me, I just believe that she should've called me first or at least have honored the price I was told. (If either of these things were done, they would still have a repeating customer) The assistant then said "no I told you that grooms start at 25 and go up from there" What??? Didn't you just say you had told me $45 a few mimutes ago? Which is it? Meredith was then even more rude and the whole time I'm keeping my cool because I am holding my 2 year old daughter. I am very dissatisfied with the disrespect I was shown. If they had just called or admitted they had a serious communication problem, things would be fine. This is the second time I have been here and the second time I've had issues with their communication. After the first time, I figured I would give them another shot, so in a way it's my own fault for going back. Meredith was visibly irritated and stated that I wouldn't be back. Yes, you were right about one thing, I will not be back. And because of this blatant disrespect toward a paying customer, I am reviewing this business with 1 star. They are lucky I paid at all. My entire family, all of my friends, will know how I was treated today. BEWARE!!"
"WARNING!! Do not let them "EXPRESS" your dog's glands if he is getting a bath. We took our beagle here a few months ago, apparently the regulars who worked here had left but we didnt know. Our little dog always got a trim here, never a problem before. We went out of town for my grandfather's funeral. They boarded our dog for two days with a bath on the second. There are two glands near the dog's rear that secrete a scent. It's why dogs sniff each other there, for identity. They tried to clean it by squeezing it, it popped... that is really not good. It must have hurt and I'm sure he yelped. Instead of telling us so we could go to a vet to get it looked at. They 'misplaced' the paperwork, we paid for a bath and board but they didnt show it on a receipt. Furthermore, instead of telling us about the problem, they covered it up. Two days later I noticed his constant licking and discovered a red, sore, and infected burst gland. We took him to the vet and they said someone tried to express the gland. As we didnt know about the gland they said often groomers do it from the outside (the wrong way). She recommended to bever let a groomer do it but a trained professional as needed."
