"What you’re about to read is all fact. Opinions are not needed. Had an appointment in mid-February to get taxes done. Went in, done, no issues. Was warned refunds might take longer than usual. All through March, it’s on my mind but never checked the website for status. Second week of April decided to check it. At this point, tax deadline is less than a week away. Website says nothing filed for tax year 2021. Hmm, that’s weird. So I called their office. Mr. Larry answers. “Hi Mr Larry. This is XYZ. I did my taxes with you all back in February and the online portal is stating nothing has been filed.” “ You never did your taxes here.” “Yes sir, I was in your office mid-February and you did my taxes for me.” “ No you weren’t. We don’t allow anyone in our offices.” “Yes sir, I know that. I waited in your waiting area.” “Well I don’t have your file.” “ Mr. Larry, I have the receipt when you ran my card for payment and the copy of my return. Why would I lie about something you could easily check?” “Hold on.” 2-3 minutes later. “ I’m sorry XYZ, I don’t know what happened but I have your file here. I guess it fell through the cracks.” Under my breath, “ My God. It’s been nearly two months.” “ What do you want me to do?! Die?! Mistakes happen, files get pushed aside! I have a lot of clients! You’re not the only one you know!” Very low voice, “Mr. Larry, will you please file my return today?” “I’m going to do it before end of the day.” “Thank you, Mr. Larry.” I’d only been a client there for 2 or 3 years. I’ve had my taxes filed each year for more than 2 decades and never have I had a CPA push aside and not file my return."
