Reviews
"Although not turf, the grass and dirt fields were well maintained. The restrooms were definitely older, but were supplied with soap and hand dryers. The benchers were covered to block the sun as well. Overall, for a 4-field park, it did its job nicely."
"I go here for excercise walks around the half mile track by the creek. I take periodic stops on a few excercise stations. Quiet, safe. UPDATE 30 NOV 2023 They've recently repaved the rough portions of the trail...nice!!"
"Overall, it's a large park with alot of potential. 2020 Hurricanes damaged the park, resulting in a ton of tree loss. There is currently a pool, tennis court, skate park, big & small playground, walking track, basketball court, & ball fields. Location: center of deridder along HWY 171. Multiple areas to park. Atmosphere: activity areas are spread out. Partial shade from some trees. Walking path needs repairs & wish they would replace the bridge crossings with something solid (not slotted) because it's difficult for dogs to cross. Grass isn't always cut timely & is overgrown but when it is cut, it's blown into the stream & walking path. Multiple trash cans throughout the park. Multiple benches/pavilions/tables for picnics. I also wish they would add equipment such as swings, merry go round, seesaw. They could take out/replace the random confusing exercise stuff along the walking path- it just doesn't look functional. Crowds: typically not too bad. The pool is busy during the summer. And the courts are occupied occasionally. The park is really big enough to share it all. Restrooms: available but we always avoid. They need to be redone. Pets: permitted. No drinking stations for pets but there is a water spout near the bathrooms. Animals seen in the park: squirrels, birds, snakes (little/not harmful), turtles, fish. Price: everything is free except the pool ($5 for swimmer, $2.50 for non-swimmer, 2 yr old & under free)."
"A terrific park right off the hwy! Despite all the distractions on the main drag, this park remains a peaceful place to walk, explore, or simply quietly read."
"Enjoyable park particularly for a small town. 2020 hurricane devastation was significant. Includes basketball, tennis, pool, baseball, kid play areas, and a walking trail."
