"I had an issue with the shifter/throttle controls on my Mercury 225 Pro XS. ( If I didn't move the throttle all the way down when in forward, the senser was acting like the motor was still in neutral and, using the Hot Foot the motor would not rev up to get the boat on plane.) I brought my boat in several different times for this issue but the so called mechanics there could never diagnose the problem. They changed thermostats, flushed out the water jacket, had me install extra inline water filters, but never solved the problem. The last time I brought the boat in for the same issue they kept it for months. When I finally had enough of their incompetence and went to get my boat, I discovered that, not only had they not solved the problem, but they had ripped my head rests on both my seats by using them as hand holds while climbing in and out of my boat. They had also broke a blade off of my trolling motor prop, and broke a buckle on one of the straps on my boat cover!!!! After I brought all of this to their attention they replaced my trolling motor prop but never would admit to destroying my head rest or breaking the buckle! After fooling with these sub par outboard mechanics for over a year, I took my boat to a different Mercury dealer and they diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes!!!!!! Do yourself a big favor and stay away from this dealership. A one star rating is way too high, If you ever need a competent outboard motor mechanic take your rig to anybody but Carlson's Marine."
