"**********WARNING TO ALL VETERANS REFERRED BY THE VA TO EY MEDICAL CENTER ********************* I have an Eye issue only hard lense contacts can correct. With out them I can't see. Everything is blurry even with regular glass.. I have the phone an inch from my face typing this now.I was sent to Eye Medical Center by the Veteran Affairs office (VA) due to long wait time to see my normal doctor. Dr. Tran and his staff were great. My issue did not start until I went down to the contact department. First, I had to wait a month after seeing Dr. Tran to get fitted for my contacts. During the fitting process everything was still fine. Only issue at this point was the long wait time. I brushed that off. Anyway after the fitting I was told I needed to pay for the contacts before I ordered them. I call the VA and they told me that's not how it works. They referred me to them for the exam by Dr. Tran and the fitting. Once fitted I'm supposed to get the fitting information and give to the VA. This was told directly to the lady that did the fitting by the VA representative. The lady that did the fitting ( I believe her Name was Katherine but no for sure) said she couldn't give that information out because the fitting wasn't complete. I have been wearing these type contacts since 2014 so I know the process very well. I explained to the lady fitting the contact that once my Dr. with the VA gets the copy of the fitting info she has done and written down. My VA eye doctor will order the contacts and complete the process. She still refused and stated the contract had to be ordered through them and paid before ordering. These contacts are $450 each for both eyes so $900 total. Spoke to the VA again and they said the would handle this. I did receive multiple call from the VA after stating no one the would call back and when they did get someone on the phone. They got put on hold and no one returned to pick up the call. I finally got a call from the VA stating to go back to the Eye Medical Center and ask for Mynesha. She will give me my records to send to my VA cornea doctor. When I got there Mynesha went to get the records but they were not with the rest. The lady that did the fitting had them and told me I could not have them. She kept saying it's not a prescription until they order them and I have to come back to have them adjusted if needed. Again I explained to her. My VA doctor will order and take care of the adjustments if needed. She ( VA doctor) just needs the fitting information to order the contacts. The fitting lady to me no again. She then got very rude and told me if I'm not going to pay then I could just go somewhere else. She repeated that several times. I had my VA representative on the phone that hear it all and notated her rudeness. Her story changed to she couldn't give me my medical record because the fitting appointment wasn't paid for then back to it's not a complete prescription, even though I told her multiple times that I didn't need a prescription. I needed the fitting information thats in my medical record. My VA rep tried talking to her again. I asked for a Manger to report her. One came and told me her actual manager was out for the day. So I told her everything. She couldn't do much so I left. ***** SEE PHOTOS FOR FULL STORY *****"
"Easily one of the most unprofessional establishments I have ever walked in to. For starters, during my appointment in August of 2023, the contact lens department took out my contacts and disposed of them as I was to be fitted for new ones at the appointment. Come to find out they do not even have my prescription in stock, meaning I had no vision. I had to leave my car at the building and have a relative pick me up and take me home last minute. Second, I called medical records to get my most recent prescription and they sent me a random prescription from 2018. When I went to call back and ask for my exam results from 2023, I was told that I was not able to get them and to hold on the line for one of the doctor's medical staff. To which no one answered and I tried 3 times. I left a voicemail before 3:30 and my call has still not been returned. The nurses that work in this place have the most sorority stricken attitude I have ever witnessed, and that is coming from a sorority girl. I truly pray for the folk that walk through this department's doors as life seems to get overwhelmingly hard after you have entered. The biggest part to that, is that it doesn't have to be. It is the employees and doctors who make this place so painstakingly annoying."
"I recently had an experience at EMC that I feel compelled to share, as I believe it could be an important learning opportunity for both the staff and future patients. I went in for a routine procedure, during which my pupils were dilated using an ointment. Unfortunately, the effects of the dilation and potential side effects were not explained to me beforehand. As a result, I experienced significant light sensitivity and blurred vision, which I was not prepared for. This led to a challenging and unsafe situation as I attempted to drive to work after my appointment but due to mỳ concerns I had to wait for an hour for the effects to diminish. Yet, I had headaches as well as blurred vision all day and had to cancel my class for this. I understand that medical procedures can sometimes have unexpected outcomes, and I appreciate the hard work of healthcare professionals. However, I believe clear communication and proper patient education are crucial components of safe and effective care."
"Needing cataract surgery. Very professional and friendly staff. Very attentive to medical and financial concerns. One of my friends had his eyes done for cataracts last year and had very good results."
"I am very pleased with my meeting with the doctor. Very clean office, nice staff. The highest recommendation. Thank you to Dr. Philip D. Ehrlich, MD"
