"Thanks Dr Vandenberg man apuhpuhpuh he said i need to lose a little bit of weight to feel less awful all of the time and he was right!! I've lost 20 lbs over the year and i've never felt better. He is one of the few psychiatrists I have visited. Many other people should follow his advice!"
"Okay so seeing the reviews. I'm going to say it. Dr. Vandenberg will ignore your child's issues. I brought to his attention that a younger family member was having some serious dad issues after her father walked out when she was a child. He dead faced looked at me and stated "that happened 6 years ago and isn't bothering her" Go find your kids a doctor who CARES! Please!"
"When I seen him for seizures. He was the one that learn about the new device for seizures patient call the V.N.S .he the only Dr. In the Louisiana area that close. He has done a great job keeping my seizures in control with this device. Now I get to live a normal life without always worrying about when is it going to happen."
"He was absolutely the worst psychiatrist I've ever met. Asked questions and then interrupted me before I could get ana answer out...would not listen to me at all, prescribed meds I've already been on that didn't work for me, and said he couldn't give me an accurate diagnosis because I missed my last appointment (I didn't have an appointment and had tried to call their office multiple times to make an appointment, even leaving voicemails and never got a return call)"
"If I could give Dr. Vandenberg zero stars, I would. My first issue of concern is that he sees siblings together. When we walked in for our initial visit, his staff started to seat us all in one room. I have a 12 year old son and a 14 year old daughter. They were not comfortable at all with the idea of being in the room with the other while having a psych eval. I requested being seen separately, and the staff accommodated us. For the second visit, however, he put them together. No 14 year old girl diagnosed with depression and anxiety wants to talk to a psychiatrist with her little brother present. There were other things that bothered me about the visit, but my biggest issue is how he spoke to my daughter about her weight. He weighed my two children in front of each other. My daughter is overweight; she knows that and so do I. But we are here for depression and anxiety. Approaching her weight during a psychiatrist visit is not ideal. On top of that, he did it in front of her little brother, who is actually underweight. The worst part was HOW he handled it. He told her, "You need to eat less. That's why you look the way you are." There is nothing in that statement that could be helpful for her mental or physical health. If he was concerned about her physical health, he should not have mentioned appearance at all. Her brother confirmed that this is what Dr. Vandenberg said. Both kids said Dr. Vandenberg spent the majority of the visit talking about my daughter's weight. We will not be returning."
