Reviews of Joan of Arc, Maid of Orleans
"My time in New Orleans was nice and relaxing. This city has such a unique vibe that's hard to compare. It's like a mix of culture and music, some good restaurants and attractions. I would suggest to visit French Quarter, walking down the Bourbon Street in the evening you can go to some live jazz concerts. Interesting architecture with historic charm. Good restaurants like Beignets at Café du Monde just a must here, etc. Food is a part of the New Orleans experience. I would also suggest to take a guided tour, and explore neighborhoods, Garden District for example have nice mansions from the past era, where you can feel the spirit of New Orleans. I won't spent much time here, but overall New Orleans is a nice city to visit, especially if you pay attention to history, if you like the music, and like to enjoy good food."
"Gorgeous statue to St. Joan of Arc. If you’re unfamiliar with her story, I highly encourage you to check it out. Mark Twain wrote a book about her and considered it to be his greatest work. Just outside the hustle and bustle of Jackson Square we find our heroine. Easily walkable, she is surrounded by shops and restaurants. An inspiring reminder of the power of faith."
"A beautiful statue of the Maid of Orleans with surrounding plaques. This gift from the citizens of France to the City of New Orleans is very similar to the statue in Paris, across from the Louvre. A nice place to spend a little time."
"I loved learning about Joan of Arc as a child and had to come visit this landmark. It was a little tricky to find but eventually found her not too far off from Cafe Du Monde and the beginning of the French Market. I was disappointed to see that someone had spray painted on the bottom part of the statue, so hopefully the city will clean it up."
"Great statue of Joan of Arc, a 15th-century military leader and hero, martyr, and Catholic saint. She is also known as the Maid of Orleans and was "a gift of the people of France to the citizens of New Orleans" in 1972. There is an annual Joan of Arc parade that ceremonially pauses at the statue on the first day of Carnival season. We were lucky to be at the statue on that night in 2017. Each time we visit, we stop by to see the statue."
