"Rowdy and raucous walking street, primarily for those into alcohol culture. Ended up walking through Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on a recent trip in December. Lots of bars and clubs with ridiculously loud, basic music over the speakers. There are some decent restaurants in the area, and it's worth walking through at least once for the experience. Only one really good street performer on the Saturday night. Lots of kids doing drum beats on buckets you can give a dollar to. If you like to drink it may be more enjoyable."
"It was exciting for sure!! Lots of adult things to see. There is every kind of bar you can imagine. The homeless were present, but they were harmless. I never felt in danger. I would not bring kids here that is for sure!! It is a fun place to experience but you probably don't need more than a few days. All of the food was good. Drinks were a little pricy but that's what you do on vacation."
"Bourbon Street can be exciting to visit but I feel is not representative at all of the city or the culture. Most locals, that I know tend to avoid Bourbon Street whenever possible. It can be fun but more often is a collection of inebriated folks and those there to try to take advantage of them. Be careful and don’t fall for I know where you got them shoes."
