About Us
The Shaolin Institute, located at 1995 Gentilly Boulevard in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a gym and health institution dedicated to unlocking human potential with determination and a focused conscious mind. The institute offers teachings in Zen, Chinese culture, and the ancient arts of Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Gong, Tai Chi, and Shaolin Kickboxing SanShou/Sanda. Additionally, they provide instruction in health and wellness practices such as Zen Tai Gong, Conscious Mind-Body Healing, Nutrition, Natural Healing, Medical Qi Gong, and more. The institute is led by Liu Xiangyang, also known as DeRu, a senior student of Shaolin Chan-Wu-Yi and a mentor to many students in the Shaolin and Tai Chi disciplines. All teachings and activities are overseen by Grandmaster Shi DeRu, a 31st generation descendant of the Shaolin Temple and one of the few indoor disciples of the Shaolin Temple's Great Grand Master, Shi SuXi.
