Southern Institute For Edu

The Southern Institute For Edu, located at 31 McAlister Drive in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a non-profit tolerance education center affiliated with Tulane University from 1993 to 2015. Founded by Dr. Lance Hill and Dr. Lawrence Powell, the Institute emerged from the Louisiana Coalition against Racism and Nazism, a group that opposed David Duke during his gubernatorial campaign in 1991. Throughout its 22-year existence, the Institute provided training in Holocaust and Civil Rights history to teachers in several Southern states. In addition to tolerance education, the Institute offered inter-racial dialogues and intercultural communication workshops for various organizations and agencies.
