"How could anyone miss the opportunity to walk through this multilevel landmark that put Marshall on the map? And it continues to make that map expand... google the I20 corridor and the years of work to see it come to fruition. Ask questions find answers... the future travel in this country hinges on making it happen."
"Not kid, friendly I wanted to buy a second book from the gift shop. My son and his friend were playing right outside the gift shop with the Thomas the Tank Engine train table, and the person in the gift shop said the children must have an adult with them at all times. My son and his friend are both 8 years old. I was less than 10 feet away. You could hear them talking. What was worse is we were the only customers there. The management might consider putting the train tables inside the gift shop if they want to sell to people. I'm sure most of their customers bring children. I put the book back, and we left. The person at the gift shop didn't even know the history of it. Do not recommend. We will not go back. Tyler's train depot, museum is much better."
"Very nice place to learn about the Texas & Pacific Railroad. There is a nice small museum with great information about the admirable effort some Marshall residents put into restoring this place. You can step into a real caboose and the locomotive. They have a nice HO train layout. Worth the trip. Wonderful for young train enthusiasts."
"Worth the stop if you're into historic buildings, or trains. Still an active Amtrak depot, is mostly restored and has a museum / gift shop. The Mikado locomotive is a plus. There's a parking lot next to the old hotel which is apparently a restaurant, and then you go through a tunnel to get to the depot proper. There are some beautiful old homes nearby, then also some that were beautiful and could be once again. While there check out downtown Marshall, especially the courthouse, it's worth a stop inside."
"The property is an excellent momento from train history, and is an excellent reminder of how transportation plays an important role in how communities are developed along the train routes. When going into the tunnel that stretches below the train rails, the first door upon exiting the tunnel is the gift shop which you will have to discover while walking into the more modernized terminal booth, that will actually allow you to see the rest of the museum, however since I only stopped by serendipitously while visiting the town, I wasn't able to find out what it was entirely. Just adjacent to the train depot is The Ginocchio Hotel that would have been the first sight people see upon arriving via the station. I'll probably return again and update this review at some other time."
