"If you’d like to enroll in school here I don’t recommend it unless you know how to be a teachers pet. Mrs.Gibbons the theory instructor goes above and beyond. They’re short handed on hours for instructors so most instructors are handling more than one class at once. If you need more hands on it can be hard. Everyone learns different. Be prepared to ask questions and get looked at like you’re less than thou because you don’t know the answers… Even though you’re paying to LEARN. Chelsea that helps with enrollment is God sent and helps to the best of her ability. But most of anyone else in that building will talk down to you and bully you for anything they can. They talk bad about students that they don’t like as well as past instructors. If you want to feel comfortable at a school do not attend this school. A year or more around it will break you down. The students are great and very helpful but they are lacking in kindness and compassion for their job and the students. If you love cosmetology enough to become an instructor or work for a school then you have to be passionate about the industry. Do your research before enrolling. There are schools that will take you in with open arms. Hopefully things change otherwise the name of this institute should be The Mean Girls Academy."
"Come here often for pedicure & haircut. Always pleased with results."
"Stopped in on a whim wanting to get my polish changed on my nails but seriously needing a pedicure bad, But honestly not wanting to pay the normal salon prices. I had 2 students worked on me (wish I could remember their names) one did my manicure and polish change and the other young lady gave me the best pedicure Ive had in forever. Best of all they weren't in a rush to get to the next person like most salons are and I enjoyed talking about life in general now a days and how Silsbee is different from when I was fresh out of high school. Not that 35 is all that old, or not like I thought it was back then. Anyway they spent almost 2 hrs making me look presentable for summer. Enjoyed my visit and will be back, maybe to see what they can do with my hair next."
"I am so close to graduation with this school and have had a great experience. The instructors and staff are amazing. I have had immaculate hands on training and feel comfortable entering the field. I highly recommend Southeast Texas career institute. Come join for an exciting career."
"Aweful organization, lack of communication with students, and lazy employees. To much drama within the staff and students. You'd get talked down to and treated worthless by a few of the staff members. Some of the teachers were wonderful and knowledgeable but couldn't teach all of the proper knowledge due to the school being so cheap and not buying the proper equipment and products. Connors the "director" was a nightmare, the school had absolutely no consistency in the rules, everyday you will be informed that what you've been doing for months is now against the rules. They treated us like preschoolers, we had to have hall passes to use restrooms or to be out of class. Would not waste my money here. Go to Houston. You'll actually receive the proper education and you'll get your money's worth. Our practical kit was reused containers and contained no product or all the nessecary components to take our state board test. This place is a joke. I do not recommend unless you're wanting to blow some money."
