Nicholls Greenhouse

Nicholls Greenhouse, located at Colonel Drive in Thibodaux, Louisiana, is a school institution that is home to the Arlen B. Cenac Greenhouse at Nicholls State University. With funding from Mr. Benny Cenac and state capital outlay dollars, the greenhouse complex represents a significant investment in agriculture and hospitality. The greenhouse provides internships and job opportunities for Bridge to Independence students and program alumni, who work under the direction of a Greenhouse Caretaker to supply the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute with fresh herbs and vegetables. Surplus herbs and vegetables are available for sale to the community, with profits reinvested into the program.

Students with Intellectual Disabilities or Autism at Nicholls State University have the opportunity to gain leadership and social skills through the Bridge to Independence program. Tower gardens are used for growing herbs as part of internships, providing a unique learning experience in agriculture. The Bridge Bakery, open on select days during June and July, offers a variety of pastries, danishes, cupcakes, cookies, and croissants, including Keto and sugar-free options.
