Reviews of Sportran
"Do not lose anything on a bus!!! I saw someone turn in a minor cost item to a driver (shower curtain hooks) and it was never turned in, or someone at dispatch took it. I feel sorry for anybody that loses anything that is not traceable somehow because chances are - it is gone (STOLEN)!!!!!"
"If you have a job to get to, you can NOT count on the bus. Connections do not connect. The drivers do not keep to the schedule. None of the bus stops have shade. I almost had a heat stroke waiting on the next bus when my connection passed me by. Nor does the supervisor care about the public."
"Many of the drivers are friendly and polite. Often they will pick you up even if you happen to be between stops. Of course they know better than anyone how bizarrely the stops are laid out. Sometimes the signs are mere yards apart, sometimes a mile or more divides them. Also, sometimes the signs aren't actual stops, though they look like the other signs and are part of a numerical sequence. But I've seen the drivers fly right by the signs, then stop because people on the bus called out, then chastise those of us getting on board because "it's not a real stop." One thing I love about the service is passenger solidarity. We watch out for one another. We have to. If you're down so far you're relying on the bus system to get you where you want to go, nobody else is watching out for you at all. The web page is an antique and the schedules posted there have, at best, an on-again/off-again relationship with reality. All that being said, I ride the bus every day and so I have seen them do many things right. They will pick up people in wheelchairs or using a cane anywhere at all. And if they know your face and you're running to catch them, they'll stop. Most times. There are a few drivers on one route who know me by name. I find that absurdly pleasing. So lots of room to improve, but I'd say most of it could be fixed with a change of management. The people doing the actual jobs are doing fine. Perhaps managers should be required to ride the bus to work..."
