About Us

Ricracknola is a unique clothing store and community sewing studio located at 1927 Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in New Orleans, Louisiana. Our mission is to engage the community in creating sustainably by offering a space for creativity and education.
At Ricracknola, we host monthly Community Textile Recycling Days where we collect donations of textiles to divert them from landfills. This not only helps the environment but also educates the public on responsible textile disposal. We rely on generous donations from film and television productions as well as the general community to stock our Creative Reuse Shop, which carries a curated selection of clothing, accessories, fabric, notions, and more.
In our Community Sewing Studio, we offer a variety of classes for all skill levels. We also partner with local schools, museums, libraries, and community centers to teach both kids and adults how to sew. If you have items to donate or are interested in partnering with us, please email [email protected] or [email protected]. Join us at Ricracknola to be a part of the creative community in New Orleans!

"Just finished a delightful and thoroughly informative sewing lesson with Mary Woodall at RicRack. My daughter and I received clear and complete instruction as first-timers using a sewing machine. My schedule is difficult to negotiate despite the wealth of classes that RicRack has available. My only regret is not scheduling a private lesson earlier."
"Amazing collection of both thrifted goods and fabrics!!!"
"Awesome vintage, recycled fabrics, buttons and trims. Dig around in here and find beautiful vintage clothing and vintage sewing supplies."
"Great store. Gal spent 5 minutes looking for a cord stop that was 50 cents! My hero! My bf gave her $7 when we heard it was a non profit. Love their mission. Wish I lived in this time zone!"
"Had a wonderful experience taking a beginner sewing class here. The instructor was super helpful and made a complete beginner like me feel welcome and supported. We made tote bags. I had a blast!"
