"I unfortunately moved into The Sterling in August of 2022, as soon I walked into my unit there was no furniture or lighting. They found some furniture to put together, but up until move out we never received the fully furnished unit we paid for. There was no desk, but for some reason I was given a rocking chair to put up against the wall where the desk should have accompanied it. I ended up purchasing a desk so that I could have somewhere to do my work. My unit looked nothing like the tour unit, we had different flooring, and furniture. We were in the back half the apartment that did not get painted until July of 2023. Along with this the apartment was filthy and had an mold issue. The apartment looked like it had been slapped together five minutes before I walked in. The floors were coming up, and there was this odor every time the air came on. The smell was nauseating and we continuously put in work orders for it to be fixed. The internet would go out for two weeks at a time, and all the management could say was, "the internet should be working tomorrow." There was an additional person living in the unit who we reported but nothing was done about it. I signed a lease for a 3 bedroom unit but ended up with 4 people. Along with this there was a security issue caused by a roommate, which the staff refused to take action until a gun was brought into the unit by someone the roommate had over. After helping the roommate move out we discovered that there was cat feces in the bedroom and closet. We put in a work order and went to the office to get the room cleaned since there was a foul odor being emitted. We were told that the room would be cleaned, but from February to July 2023 we lived with the smell of cat feces. We emailed the office multiple about the issue and their response was locking the door without cleaning the room. After this we were told not to access the room, and we were forced to live with the smell. Reactions from staff members about the state of the room were continuously captured on my ring camera. There were random parties in the parking garage, and someone ended up being murdered on the second floor of the garage. Many of the residents were not students. Car thefts were rampant, and the gate never worked. I have been locked in the parking garage when the gate malfunction and had to wait for maintenance and the fire department to let us out. Lastly electricity payments that were never posted on my resident portal during my lease were posted after move out with no explanation. This is a property that thrives off of being money hungry and not holding up their end of the contract. Professionalism is lacking, and many of our concerns were dismissed."

"I moved out of the Sterling in July and could not wait to move. When I moved in there was no power, furniture, ceiling fans, blinds, or showerheads. The apartment was filthy and it had an oder. Instead of them moving us to a different unit they found furniture and put it together. I was not able to actually move in until about 8:30pm. My apartment was outdated and not live in ready. About 2 weeks later my apartment reeked and smelled like sewerage. We put in a maintenance request and they weren't much help at all. The smell was coming from the water heater and the first time the maintenance men drained water out of it and left. The smell was still there and we put in another maintenance request and the second time the maintenance man was able to fix the smell. Aside from that I had a roommate that threatened my safety since the day she moved in. This problem was brought to the office multiple times and they made it seem like I was nitpicking and they did not want to help. They did not step in to solve the problem until me and my other roommate told them that she had someone in the apartment with a gun. In general the sterling was not safe at all. There were parties in the parking garage every weekend (even on weekdays) and people were getting shot and cars were broken into. The sterling is "student living" but many of the people weren't even students. After I moved out the sterling sent me an email about unpaid charges and requesting payment of $816. I paid my first two months rent in advance upon moving in.The apartments were switched over to a new company and they claim "the payments were lost" and still tried charging me rent plus late fees and electricity when I had receipts to show proof of payment. Nicky Tyrus the property manager was no help at all along with everyone else in the office. They told me that I wouldn't have to worry about it because the portal will not charge me when in fact it did. I DO NOT RECOMMEND MOVING HERE. It may be under new management but it's not worth the money at all!!!!"
"The staff here are really nice and understanding towards the residents here. Real down to earth always enjoy interacting with them. The rooms are a nice size for what we’re paying for. I was here under the old management but since the new one has taken over I’ve seen a lot of improvements across the property itself. It looks a lot cleaner then before and feels more safer to walk through. It’s also not too far from campus if you got to lsu. It’s about a nice 10-15 min walk."
