"Dr. Dev , Ashley & All the Social Workers, LaShae, Mario, & All The Staff who work at Beacon Hospital were caring, hardworking and respectful to patients and myself. Thank you."
"After reading all the seemingly negatives reviews... I am much compelled to write: A POSITIVE... 5 STAR REVIEW... I cannot imagine why anyone would think to say anything negative about anyone who Doctors, Nurses, Counsels, Assists, Cooks Sweeps The Floors or Cuts The Grass, here... Thank You Social Worker, Ashley for calling me at home with an update, direction and counsel... Lutcher and it's BBHH are Amazing! Lutcher is a most charming town and so are its people..."
"On behalf of my client Mr Wilbert Mitchell: "Dr. Dev at Beacon Behavorial in Lutcher indicated that he sent 3 medications to a pharmacy of my choice - Walgreens on Canal Street in New Orleans. When I went to fill these prescriptions It turned out that he did not have the 3rd medication sent to the pharmacy at all and essentially misled me about how he intended to treat me and manage my medications The 3rd was Klonopin, a controlled substance I need for the treatment of my anxiety which causes immense mental and emotional issues. Unless Dr. Dev and the nursing staff rectify this issue for me, I can tell you DEFINITIVELY that the staff at Beacon BH lie to their patients. Sincerely, Wilbert Mitchell""
"(NOTE: Long review and my stay here was in 2018) I am honestly shocked to see all the negative reviews about this hospital, unless it is because the one I was in a month prior was PRISON!! My therapist chose to send me here and I have said that if for any reason I would need to go inpatient again, I would want to go here. Beacon was an old hospital so picture the lay out of a regular hospital. There are 2 halls. I was on the back hall with maybe 8-10 patients which was a lot calmer and quieter than the front hall. Most patients had there own room which included own ac/heat (set at your discretion), own toilet and lavatory. Bedroom doors would shut but no locks (as any other mental hospital). The shower was great, always hot, had a lock(unlike other facilities I have been in!!) and I was allowed to use it as many times as I liked. Food was pretty gross, only decaf coffee with your sugar intake being monitored. Snacks I think 2 or 3 times a day but depending on the staff he may let you slide and have extra(hide your extra in your clean socks in your room lol). We had "group" each day for about an hour. Counselors were available, most of the time, psychiatrist every other day and psychiatrist physician assistance on the drs "off" days. A health physician is always on call as well. I did have issues getting my Vyvanse because when I signed in I did not put both my pharmacy's on my chart. I did not think it mattered. I thought there was a system that would pull everything up all at one time. It took a few days for the Dr. to approve it then for it to be delivered which put me in withdrawals. Just like any place, some staff are better than others. Some would roll their eyes and treat me like I didnt matter but others would talk with us all day, play cards, games, etc. Luckily for me but sad for others that I was with a group who did not have many family members so many times I could have the entire phone hour twice a day all for myself. On the front hall with the large group, there were always things going on: Card games, board games, movies, xbox, puzzles, etc. I do have to agree with one other review about not feeling safe at one point. Down my hall there was one other female besides myself and if I remember correctly there were about 5 or 6 males. Most treated me as a granddaughter but one would sit and stare at me for hours. I couldnt judge him because we were all there for mental help but it made me very uneasy, especially at bedtime when I could not lock my door. I informed the staff, which they already knew bc they have to document all your actions AAALLL day long, that I did not feel safe and they assured me they check everyones room every 10 minutes during the night, and they did!"
"A family member was sent here after a crisis and if I could give them zero stars, I would. Staff asked that I drive an hour to bring his medication (reasonable, no complaints about that part) then mysteriously didn’t let him have it *and* failed to return it when he was discharged. A less stable patient managed to call 911 on the staff while my family member was there, apparently because of insufficient supervision. Nobody bothered to find out about food allergies and when they discovered my family member couldn’t eat a meal because of an allergy, *offered* a replacement but allowed the PATIENT to make their own decision about whether they needed to eat lunch. My family member spent a week and a half sitting in a room with no natural light with nothing to do and they didn’t even provide individual counseling during his stay because they had allowed both counselors to take vacation at the same time. I called during his treatment to ask about my family member telling me that he wasn’t receiving counseling, and nobody ever called me back."
