"I went in to see Dr. Jamie because I had been having lots of things going on with my overall health. I wrote a list of symptoms to be thorough. When I pulled it out of my purse he responded with, you seem anxious and wanted to write me a prescription for anxiety .... in fairness I do get anxious especially around doctors because they tend to be dismissive and push meds without actually finding out what's going on. He order lots of blood panels and a chest xray (due to shortness of breath and my drenching night sweats) to which he wanted to wait 3 weeks to give me any results. My chest xray report stated thickening of my bronchial walls and biapical pleural wall thickening. I'm still not feeling well and had been having bronchial wall issues since last year. I called his office because I wanted to discuss my xray with his nurse and to also see if they wanted to run another panel that had come back with quantity not sufficient before my appointment and I was completely dismissed. I expressed the urgency of the needing to discuss my xray due to continued night sweats and shortness of breath, as well as my job and the poor air quality. Lung health is important and I want to make sure I'm not jeopardizing it. I was dismissed not once but three times that I requested an earlier appointment. I was also told that if I was having trouble breathing to go to the emergency room. When I finally had enough being dismissed I told the receptionist to please get my records together, I will find a new doctor. When I called back later to let them know I would need them before tomorrow, they answered the phone and whispered "OH God it's Mamie Cooke". Perhaps the staff should remember that their patients hired them and are the ones paying them for their care, and not to treat their patients like they're bothering them from doing their jobs... The patients are your job!"
