Reviews of Red River Behavioral
"When a family member was admitted to this amazing facility we were cautious and worried due to our last experience with a ward in the Baton Rouge area. Our worries could not have been eased any more due to the outstanding communication skills of the employees at Red River. They returned calls swiftly and attempted to provide us with answers and options that were specifically fit to my relative’s case. While we are located 4 hours away from the institution, the staff eagerly updated us and allowed our family member to communicate with us as well. With other extenuating circumstances in our lives right now, they attempted to make every conversation and transportation as easy as possible. Red River also diagnosed the relative with a third disability that two other behavioral centers over looked. The support that Red River has provided us with has demonstrated the individual empathy the facility has for patients. Compared to the other facility my relative has been to within the past month, Red River cares more about the individual than the potential to increase a rate of patients. We could not be more pleased."
"They reserved a room for my suicidal daughter and when we did intake they wouldn't take her bc she has to take a heart pill every 3 hours 3 times a day. I'm a nurse and pointed out an obvious and workable solution so the house supervisor said all the patients there were functioning adults (hahaha no patient in a psyche hospital in a functioning adult or they wouldn't be there) which implied my 19 yr old daughter who lives alone, has a job, buys her own groceries, etc wasn't a functioning adult (She literally took a jab at someone who was at rock bottom) and my daughter is still crying and questioning her self worth even more bc of that house supervisor was so unprofessional. There were many other things said and we left...needless to say, momma bear is about to shut them down. I know all the people to call to report them too."
"My mother was admitted for medication adjustment in Feb. She did her two weeks, and is doing quite well. The problems I had was she has dementia and has to be reminded to do things, such as brush teeth, put in or take out hearing aids. She has rechargeable hearing aids, and they where not charged while there, even though I provided charger. So one of them was lost. She had only had them 2 weeks. So if you place a love one there, keep hearing aids, as they are not responsible if lost."
"My father entered Red River Behavioral to get his meds regulated for Alzheimers. A few days in, he fell in the shower “when the tech turned his head a minute”. After two days of complaining with his side I asked them to look at it. They called me back. His hip was okay. I explained it wasn’t his hip hurt but his rib area so they xrayed again. He was put in diapers although he was totally continent. I asked them to stop but they didn’t. Never were given the same answer any time we asked a question. They never seemed to know what was going on or willing to talk to the family. He got Covid while there. He was over medicated and out cold a good bit. What was suppose to be 10-14 days but was a month when he was taken to ER. Drs there said he was over medicated, severely dehydrated, and had a UTI. I would not recommend RRB for anyone I loved! But I will say for the most part there were two aides that were very good with him!"
"My dad walked into this facility with a walker. When we visited, he was often in wet clothes and very drugged and disheveled looking.Ten days later he was hospitalized with three broken bones in his leg & ankle, even though he had been wheelchair bound since the day he entered. We never could get an explanation as to what happened and his dementia prevented him from telling us. This would be the last place on earth I would place a loved one. Nobody seemed to care and even after his hospitalization, there was no follow up at all to even ask how he was doing."
