"This hospital is just TERRIBLE. My daughter stayed here The end of May and early April. She was TRAUMATIZED. she was there for 8 days, and during the phone call period she cried for me to come get her. She complained how negligent and mean almost all of the nurses were, but she did have a favorite. I don't know how much of this is true, but I could tell by her behavior and what she said. If this could be negative 5 stars, I'd rate it that. I must say though, she did get help. But I generally don't know how.because she claims that she had no group therapy."
"I was here around the ages of 11-14. Each stay I had was decent but this review is about my younger sister. My sister (12 Y/O) went here a few months ago and it seemed to help her a lot. Her doctor was amazing. I had her a few times in the past and the doctor put her on zoloft. She went in due to SH and suicidal thoughts and stayed for about 9 days. Although one thing I do want to address. From what my sister told me, they need to work on the Children’s unit. They need to do better. Cleaning wise and supervising the children there. She told me one kid took all of their clothes off and ran down the hallway. (Which isn’t the best thing to do in a mental hospital) Some children on the unit were there for impulsivity and some were there that just needed a medication adjustment. They really need separate units for that. I feel like that would benefit them a lot more. But overall, I’m thankful for the doctor that took care of my sister. She’s always been so understanding and knew what to do without just jumping to conclusions like most."
"I was discharged from this hospital 2 days ago. Overall it was a very good facility. Of the 3 psychiatric facilities I’ve been to I would be most likely to return to this one. I was in the women’s psyche unit. I really appreciated how they separated the men from the women. It eliminates a lot of issues. Admission was fast which I appreciated. I had had a long ambulance ride to get there and the staff was kind and brought me water. The food was amazing!! Especially for a psychiatric hospital. Good coffee every morning and sometimes after lunch. There was even French vanilla creamer. Staff was great for the most part. There were a few rude ones but other than that as long as you cooperated they were nice. We had gym time and the staff even played volleyball with us. Groups were great and extremely helpful. When I first arrived I had the flu and they had to keep me quarantined to my room for the first 4 days. Obviously there’s not much to do when you’re on isolation but they were very good about bringing me my meals and all and even gave me an iPad to play on. They were good about setting me up with outpatient care when I was discharged. The nurse practitioner was very kind - talking to her felt like a mini therapy session. Dr Loveless I wasn’t very pleased with though, she didn’t take much time with me and I didn’t rly feel like she cared about her patients very much. The other thing I didn’t like was how you’re practically forced to take your meds. You can refuse medication but even refusal to take just one med keeps you there longer. They won’t let you go until you agree to take your medication and they’ll send more and more doctors to try to convince you to take it. The medication I was prescribed I had a bad reaction to but I didn’t say anything because I knew they’d keep me there longer if I did to try different medications. My only other complaint is the unit is really small - there’s a hallway with bedrooms and a small day room but the bedrooms are locked during the day so you have to sit in the day room with 20 other women and it gets to be tight quarters and stressful. But for the most part I had a great experience here and it helped me a lot. Definitely would recommend. I might try another facility over going back here again but I think it deserves more than 2 stars."
"I’ve been to Brentwood three times. It’s a good place to go if you’re real messed up. I have bipolar 1 and had a really bad episode. Patients were nice for the most part. Had one almost tom Brady a clipboard at my face at 5am. Loved it. Other than that it’s a safe environment friendly staff three meals a day. Good meals too. Of course you always want to get out when you’re in. Chill people chill environment good coffee"
