"It was peaceful. However the park is full of trash blowing in the wind. I'm assuming from an event over the weekend. Nonetheless, the park served its purpose for my child."
"a beautiful park, i can't believe they want to destroy it"
"Welcome Park is a shadow of what it once was. Back in the day, we had actual playing equipment like swings, slides, a basketball court, a merry-go-round, etc. It was the go-to place to alleviate boredom. It's all gone now, in its place, a giant cement monstrosity that started production like 6-7 years ago, still not finished. Today was my first time seeing the park since I left Louisiana for 4 years. That building sits there unfinished and dilapidated. Either hire a company to finish the building or demolish it! The pond is no more, to my shock. I mean, there wasn't much you can do in its regards besides fishing and skip rocks in it. You couldn't swim because because of all the dangerous critters in it. In its place, a playset sits solemnly. Oh, and 3 of the same playsets, a "playground" doesn't make. This is a shame. I know we're better than this. I hope the parish either complete or demolish (hopefully) that cement building and redo the park to make it an ACTUAL PARK. Sad! Other than that, the main pavilion is great for parties and the track is good for chill walks or exercising, but that's all the good I can say about the park."
"Was in St. James parish at Welcome Park for the annual wild game cookoff. Cooking teams were from as far as Lake Charles, LA as well as plenty of local talents. All of the dishes I tried were delicious. Some of the delacies included elk chili, smoked coon, stewed nutria, all kinds of deer dishes, fried chicken, cabbage, cornbread, boiled turkey necks, boiled pig feet, barbecue pig feet, smoked and barbecue pork chops, smoked quail, wild hog and deer meatballs boiled neck bones, boiled crawfish and boiled crabs. There were other dishes but I just can't cover them all. Also, the DJ was off the chain! What a good time!!!!!!"
"Clean park, lots of space to enjoy your event."
