Reviews of Portobello's Grill - Bocage
"My first time here and it was wonderful. My family and members from their church raved about this place. I had the seafood gumbo as an appetizer and will say it was delicious. Main course of the pork chop and brussel sprouts hit the spot. Our server Ali was on point and very professional. Will definitely return."
"The waitstaff were friendly and accommodating. I got recommendations on a couple of different dishes. I got a sample of the seafood gumbo, which was delicious and rich. The sample size was plenty. I took a recommendation and ordered the Fish Katherine. It was delicious and just the right amount of food. I originally asked for the sauce on the side. I changed my mind once I heard how wonderful the sauce was. It was flavorful and there were interesting textures with the garnish. I did find a few bones in my filet and some shell in the crabmeat crumble. But, overall, I would order the dish again. The bread was beautifully presented with seasoned oil on the side. I only wish the bread was warm. The service was a shining moment and the food was worth the wait."
"This place is incredible, from the service to the drinks to the food. All 5 star, I took a woman here for lunch in hopes it would be a good experience based on other reviews and it exceeded expectations. She loved it so did I, they are very classy and pay attention to the details. I cannot recommend this place for lunch enough the Rosemary Bread is great, we will be back."
"Portobellos, where the mojitos taste like bitters and nothin on the menu comes with portobellos, not even the Marsala. Recommend if you’re looking for somewhere to eat microwaved bland “inspired” food. Seriously we drove through town looking for somewhere pleasant to have a nice dinner and we’re catfished by the restaurant’a exterior. The entire time we felt out of place thinking we were underdressed for what we thought was a nice establishment, low and behold we wished someone would have posted an honest review. Our first sign should have been the awful drinks we were served. Strawberry mojito that tasted as though it had been bathed in bitters, a flavor that still lingered long after we sent the drink back. The food itself tasted like frozen and reheated in a microwave, bland, tasteless and under seasoned. This place definitely ignored all the the wrong way sign on the way to flavor town. The most surprising thing was the amount of repeat customers the place seemed to be filled with. Where’s Ashton Kusher? Were we being Punk’d?!?! Trying to salvage what little was left of the evening we attempted to try and wash the taste out of our mouths with a bottle of wine or champagne, surely there was no way they could mess that up? After making a selection we were told they were sold out, then informed the only bottle of champagne was the Dom Perignon. We debated buying a $300 bottle of champagne from a restaurant that served such horrible food, but after the experience so far we had to do something to try to enjoy what was left. Fortunately the Dom Perignon was the only redeemable item on the menu. No offense to our waiters who did the best she could. I know good and well she’s not in charge of the menu. Almost every menu items comes with a side of Alfredo. One of the easiest and simplest Italian sauces to make. I’m honestly wondering how a place with such awful food lists an established date of 1996, I assume this area must be going through a seasoning drought because that’s the only way to explain how it’s still open. They should turn the place into a free bread and champagne pop up because that’s the only thing worth spending money on. Please note: The BREAD was FREE. Save your money and go to a Popeyes, the bread isn’t worth the “inspired” food you are served, might as well eat add newspaper ads at least then you’d have SOME flavor."
"We had a great time at Portobello's, but it seemed to be just a little bit off compared to what I'm used to. I'd like to start by saying that as usual, the place and atmosphere are top-notch. I enjoy eating here and like most of the menu items. Our server was fantastic, and the atmosphere was excellent. We both wanted a fillet tonight, but they were out of fillets, seriously? They were also out of a couple of other items because our server said that Valentine's Day wiped them out. But that was yesterday? We were disappointed but got a ribeye and veal instead. It looked great coming out, but it was just kind of tipid warm when we got it. The ribeye was probably 5 ounces of fat out of 14. However, the Hot crab dip and creme brulee for dessert were delicious. So, great appetizer and dessert, but the entrees were just okay and not up to what I'm used to getting from Portobello's."
