"Gaudie and Co has some extremely cute options, however the stores atmosphere is off. My daughters and I went in there to shop after Christmas and spent about 15 minutes in the store, but from the moment we got there it felt unwelcoming. My daughters, and I actually had to greet the workers even though there was like seven or eight employees there and they all saw us walk in. There was no acknowledgment that we were there until we spoke. My daughter found a really pretty white dress that had some damage on it which was noted on the tag so she wanted to try it on. When we went to the back we noticed that every time we turned around there was an employee watching us and lingering very closely. It felt like they were assuming we were going to steal from them.. And maybe that was not their intention, but that’s what the vibe was like. A tip I would give them is if they are going to follow customers around, Maybe they should engage in conversation with them instead of making it uncomfortable. My daughter tried the dress on, We talked about if she liked it or not and there was an employee 2 feet away staring at us, while we talked and it was so uncomfortable. We decided to walk down to the other boutiques and spend our money."
"This is one my favorite boutiques. Whenever I need something for a special event, I head on over to Gaudie first. I bought the textured lounge outfit in black and got compliments galore, I’ve since bought it in Orange and Heather Green. I absolutely love this boutique. I also like that I can order on line and pick up at either local store. All I can say is whenever I wear anything I bought from Gaudie, the compliments are constant. My go to place."
"I love Gaudie. They have unique pieces and accessories without having to drive to Houston for similar things. The prices overall are reasonable and they have great sales all the time if you want to wait for discounts on the more expensive items. I love the app too so I can shop from my phone. My daughter is working in France for a year and they love her clothes from Gaudie."
"Every time I shop here, I am greeted and welcomed. The staff is so nice and super helpful in choosing outfits for the occasions I am shopping for. This is one of many dresses I bought from store. I received lots of compliments!"
"Very poor customer service and cheaply made, overpriced products. It's unfortunate because I love to support small, local businesses. Won't be back here and I advise that buyers beware of this place. Updated to respond to owner's very inaccurate and ugly reply: I purchased about $300 worth of items as a gift for my niece on a Saturday while I was in town visiting family. The two girls that helped me were very kind in choosing things that a 19 year old college student may like. I took their advice and checked out, opting to pay extra for gift wrap. The checker removed the tags at the register since she was gift wrapping the items. I really didn't think much of it. This was witnessed by the checker, the other sales associate and my sister. She went on to offer me a gift receipt, which I declined and explained that if we need to return anything I would just use the original receipt since my niece lives in College Station. Never once throughout this exchange did either employee let me know that the items were non-returnable/non-exchangeable (had I known, I certainly would not have purchased these gift items, as I always want those receiving a gift to have the option to return it for something they like). I gave the gift to my niece the next day and she kindly expressed that these items were not necessarily her style and the sweater was super scratchy so she wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it - no problem, so I thought. I called the store later that week to find out how long I had to return the items - since I live out of town I needed to coordinate a trip to make the return. The sales associate advised that they do not do returns at all and do not allow exchanges on items that were on sale. I very kindly explained the whole situation to her (never making "demands") and she said she would call the owner to discuss. I let her know that I was not aware that the items were on sale - but furthermore and most importantly, I was not made aware of their policy prior to purchase. I have full respect for any policy, provided a seller is transparent and informs customers prior to purchase (printing a policy on your receipt is great, but deceitful if the buyer wasn't entitled to the information before paying). I don't know if the sales associates are paid on commission and that is why the girls (again there were two) didn't say anything, but I would have thought that during the whole conversation about returns/gift receipt/regular receipt etc that they not only should have, but would have had the decency to inform me of their policy. It truly would have been the perfect opportunity. When the sales associate called back and said sorry - the owner is not willing to remedy the situation, I most certainly kindly advised that I would be leaving a negative review about the lack of transparency, as is well within my right. To be clear, I am not upset about your policy - I simply would not have shopped here had the policy been conveyed. I would call that dishonest business practices. I am not familiar with the brand you referenced, but I can tell you the items I received would definitely not be considered "amazing quality" and are overpriced in my opinion. I purchased them because they were maroon and I wouldn't have complained about those things had it not been coupled with such a negative experience, as everyone is entitled to buy and sell at whatever price they would like. This review is not "going the extra mile," it is simply to further warn other consumers, so they don't have the same deceitful experience I did (which has been made worse by your response). I would absolutely say you are not a reputable business to shop with. The whole point of a review system is to honestly and accurately inform future customers of what they can expect from a business based on past experiences. I have been nothing but kind, respectful and honest from the time I stepped foot in your store and am shocked at your desire to create such a nasty personal characterization in your response."
