Reviews of River & Rye
"Came here for a cheer competition. We paid for the breakfast which you can only eat in this restaurant. From what I can tell, Managment did not staff to address a full house. We sat at our table for 40 minutes without even a glance from the waiters walking by. I saw this happen to about 5 other tables that came in before and after us. I went up to a waiter and asked for assistance and he said they would send someone over which never happened. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. Let’s just hope that when I go to the front desk they will refund the added cost we paid for a breakfast we were unable to get."
"I want to mention that they had a limited menu when we went because the hotel itself was sold out. They had a cheerleading competition and Mardi Gras parades locally. What I'm assuming is that they wanted to limit the menu to keep timeliness for both the staff and those attending the events. It appeared to work out across the board. The food came out quick and delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive (funny, too). We ordered the wings, a turkey club, and the loaded fries. The wings were some of the best we've had. They weren't gummy, weren't hard. Perfect texture with a little crunch and fell off the bone. Not too saucy. The fries were a 10/10. They weren't stingy with the toppings, but they also didn't do too much. The side of sour cream was something I didn't know I needed until I tried it. The turkey club was my favorite thing. It had thick sliced turkey that wasn't slime-y or too moist. It was so good. Sometimes, I find clubs to be soggy, and that didn't happen with this one. Bacon was perfect, and bread was perfectly toasted. Overall, it was a great meal. Will be returning when we're back in the area."
"I will stick with the burger. I really wanted dessert so I went for the bourbon pecan pie. It tasted just ok. The portion was pitiful to say the least. I could have gotten the whole pie from Mrs. Smith's for the cost of this one slice. And it would have tasted way better. But that's just my opinion. I have also tried the red beans and rice and a few other things from the menu and let's just say...nope! The food here is just awful and a complete overhaul is needed. Now I wonder if this is why I always see people drinking and not eating."
"Cheese fries that need improvement. Fries with a hand full of shredded cheese, crispy bacon and chives on top. Remainder of fries underneath were plain ole fries. Dry flavorless and basic. The sweet tea is made with the city water so it tastes dirty but I have ran into that all weekend at all other establishments. It was sweetened well. Staff was friendly and the restaurant is clean with a full bar."
"Ok. Yes, I realize this is a hotel restaurant. So, I was very pleasantly surprised at how good my dinner was last night. Plenty of Cajun options... The cornmeal shrimp to start were delicious and perfectly cooked. I then went with the ribeye. I know, not really Cajun. However, I added red beans and rice as a side and that made it! I couldn't help myself and then had the bourbon pecan pie with a scoop of vanilla... So good. Oh and the margaritas were made very well with a surprisingly large tequila selection. Why not give five stars. Salt. I'm just not an add salt to everything person so the asparagus was way over salted and the ribeye was right on the edge. But, next time, knowing this, I'd just ask them to not salt anything. Overall, very excellent."
