About the Business

Island Lake County Park is a beautiful tourist attraction located at 1087 Northwest Island Lake Road in Poulsbo, Washington, United States. Managed by the Kitsap County Parks Department, this park offers quality-of-life enhancing opportunities through the management of natural areas and specialized facilities. The park is committed to fostering community stewardship and providing outstanding service to visitors.
One of the exciting projects currently underway at the park is the Point No Point Park beach and shoreline repair project. Phase 1 of the project, which included importing sand and rock materials to the north beach, has been completed. Phase 2 aims to further improve the beach and shoreline by adding additional material, planting native vegetation, and rebuilding the rock revetment wall. The park remains partially closed until Phase 2 is complete, but visitors can still access the WDFW parking lot and trailhead.
In addition to the Point No Point Park project, the Stottlemeyer Trailhead Parking Lot is set to open in February at Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park. This spacious parking lot offers convenience and accessibility for visitors looking to explore the hiking trails and nature paths in the park. The parking lot is designed with eco-friendly elements to promote sustainability and preserve the natural beauty of the park.
Visitors should be aware of periodic trail closures at Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park due to Restorative Selective Forest Thinning operations. It is important to stay at least 300 feet away from active logging equipment and follow trail closure signs for safety.
The Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park Framework has been developed based on input from various stakeholders, including the public, tribes, and county officials. This framework outlines access points, trailheads, and recreational areas in the park, with a targeted completion date in December 2023.
For more information on these projects and updates on park activities, visitors can visit the Kitsap County Parks website or attend Parks Advisory Board meetings. The Kitsap County Parks Foundation also plays a vital role in supporting the preservation and enhancement of parks in the area. Island Lake County Park and its ongoing projects offer a wonderful opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the natural beauty of Washington state.
Reviews
"Nice little area that is usually not too crowded. You can fish the lake or swim if you want You have to shower right after to avoid the duck mites though, they have a shower at the each to rinse off. Great place to take your dog for a walk."
"I've been coming to this park since I was a little girl. Nothing changed since then. I've experienced some creepy things at that park late at night and in the early AM and that has been in the past couple of years but it doesn't stop me from going there with my family. I do not wish to speak anymore on the creepy experiences that we have endured. But I do believe it's still safe for families to visit."
"Pleasant park with nice walking trails along the lake. Nice playground as well."
"Quiet urban park with bathrooms, picnic tables, outdoor shower and loaner life vests for the kids. Perfect summer afternoon stop! Additional note: in the winter the lower parking lot gates are locked and restrooms closed. Park website says October 1 through March 31. The upper parking lot by the community center is open and the trails and playgrounds can be accessed from there."
"Found this place completely by accident when I missed my turn and decided to see where the road took me. That wrong turn ended up being exactly right! Gorgeous park, community room, paved trails, swimming, fishing, ducks, playgrounds, multiple picnic areas, this place is just awesome. I can’t wait to come back and explore some more, definitely a fantastic family park. ❤️"
