"One of the best in the state park system. Right on the shores of Hood Canal with beach access and plenty of open space for play with kids playground and kite flying, etc. Campsites are spacious and private for the most part, not so much room for large travel trailers to maneuver. Small or medium-sized trailers can be easily accommodated. Recommend this campground and state park for camping or day use."
"Great place to camp. Patrol guys are very friendly and approachable. Free hott showers if you are camping. Quiet. Beautiful water front."
"This is a lovely park! The entire park is paved and mostly flat and is wonderfully wheelchair accessible. The (closed to camping for winter) forest loop is an especially beautiful walk with some minor elevated areas. The park is clean and well maintained and felt mostly safe. We stayed in the accessible spot T2 in the main loop. The public restroom near this spot was barely accessible in my manual wheelchair and is in pretty rough shape / quite old. The shower in this restroom is not accessible (too narrow to enter, lip on shower entrance, shower head too high). I can't believe I have to say this, but the dumpster in the campground is also not wheelchair accessible as it's this crazy oversized trash compactor on which the door is super high up and unreachable from my wheelchair. However, there are garbage cans throughout the park, especially in front of the cabins. I think it would be helpful if the park added such garbage cans near the accessible campsites as well. The bathroom near the ranger station is accessible, but due to the various sketchy men wandering about and leering at me, I did not feel safe using it. Both T-Mobile and Verizon cell service in the main loop was negligible at best (less than 1 mgs upload and download). Cell service was fine on the beach loop and in the day use area of the park near the water. The rangers and staff were very friendly and helpful! The park volunteers were cordial but treated me with clear disapproval. All in all I would return and recommend the park for wheelchair users especially if your van / RV has a loo."
"Was able to book a site 5 days before camp, site 143 in the “Tree Loop”. As the name suggests, this area has more trees than the main loop. All of the sites are much smaller than most other state parks I’ve been to, and very close to each other. Even though there are trees or shrubs to delineate each site, you’re so close, you could clearly see & hold a conversation with your neighbors as if they were right next to you. And LOTS of road noise from the highway! The bathrooms though dated, were clean. There is one shower each, for men & women. No coins needed, free. The water access is the main attraction here, but it’s a hike to actually get in the water in the mud even at high tide. Lots of families and dogs. Nice folks, quiet at night. Never seen such a patrolled park ever! The “armed” ranger presented himself at check-in and did a drive-by every hour all day."
