"I had a really good experience with South Seattle Veterinary Hospital today. They were able to squeeze me in for a same day ultrasound appointment. I have a senior dog who is unfortunately deteriorating pretty quickly and I really appreciate they took time to understand my situation and accommodate it. The staff was super friendly and nice, both on the phone and in person. The procedure was fast, and Dr McHaffie spent a lot of time explaining to me what they found and what the options were. I really appreciated how thorough he was, how he took the time to answer my questions, and that he wasn’t pushing me down any extreme paths of treatment. Thank you to the staff at South Seattle Vet Hospital!"
"Everyone at South Seattle Veterinary Hospital was welcoming and helpful. They did a great job of checking in our sick cat, getting her tested, and the doctor explained exactly what was going on with her. They kept their promise to call us in the morning to report on how she was doing, and when we arrived to pick her up, the doctor talked to us more in-depth about her health issue, the medications we would be giving her, and how they will help her. When the nurse brought out the medications, she also explained how to administer them. They are all friendly and thoughtful, and didn't mind getting an extra phone call from me to double check on how I was giving the medication. We will definitely go back if we have another pet emergency (fingers crossed that we won't have to, but if we do we know we'll be in good hands)."
"$500 in the door, or they wouldn't see me. Offered me a credit card to pay for the visit. Makes sense that this place is so expensive when there's a brand new 4 door dual motor Tesla sitting in the parking lot. My regular vet cost $150 for the same services. This vet won't do payment plans either, which is why they offered me a credit card that was offered by a third party. That means they're getting kickbacks, and they're still charging an arm and a leg for services. I was denied the credit card (of course I was), and that's where the refusal to see me kicked in. It basically amounted to, "too broke? There's the door." Their excuse for not offering payment plans is, "too many people weren't paying their bills." I mean, that sucks, but every other vet I spoke to about this place said, "wow, you went there? Don't go there. They didn't offer a payment plan? Eeeeee... Yeah, stay away from there." Not recommended unless you have literally nowhere else to go, and aren't cash strapped. Otherwise they wish you the best of luck, regardless of the emergency. Nice guys, real nice.."
"Dr Goraya is an angel sent from heaven. I couldn’t be more grateful. My doggo nala and I sincerely thank you for taking her in immediately when she swallowed a foreign object and had severe gastrointestinal symptoms. I understand the practice is very busy but in a life or death situation, they worked fast. Everyone from the front desk to the assistants and the doctor were all so quick to help. Again we truly thank you dr goraya!"
"First things first the star rating isn’t indicative of my overall experience but more so a warning. The front desk/intake staff was beyond kind and amazing with all of the interactions I had. Pricing is great for after hour and emergency care too. We went into SSVH late on Thursday October 5th 2023. The first vet assigned to our visit, Dr. McCray, seemed cold but understandably so the job isn’t easy. Based on the signs my dog was giving she said that it was likely that my dog had bloat so X-rays were taken. In my opinion she briefly looked over the X-rays and told me my dog had cancer of the spleen and that he was bleeding internally because of it. She told me there wasn’t anything that they could do and that I would have to euthanize my boy and quickly sent me to the front desk to choose arrangements for his aftercare. She had minimal if not zero empathy and because of her mistake I almost prematurely euthanized my best boy. I was met at the front desk by another vet (I wish I had his name, he was kind patient with me) as I was getting ready to make payment for my dogs cremation etc., this vet told me he didn’t believe my dog was internally bleeding. I gave him consent to do blood work and everything was in the normal range (no signs of cancer), good vitals, his gums had color (they wouldn’t if there was internal bleeding) etc. This vet pointed out severe arthritis in the spine and said it was likely inflamed and a more likely the reason for my dogs discomfort and behavior based on all of the information he was given, his enlarge spleen was just coincidental at the time of the X-ray. The second vet asked if I wanted to take my boy home with pain meds to manage this flare up and if nothing changed to bring him back in the following day to do more testing. My dog was happy as a clam all weekend practically his old self, just at a slightly slower pace and still doing well. While I’m thrilled with my overall experience, I’m beyond horrified at the lack of care and compassion on Dr. McCray’s end. I feel that she didn’t thoroughly go over the X-rays or seek additional opinions from her colleagues on top of how she handled telling someone they would be euthanizing their fur-family and quickly sending them to arrange and pay for aftercare services. This negligence almost took the most precious being from my life and I’m afraid that the same will happen to others."
