"It was raining and cold and just ideal. There's plenty more gorgeous hiking after you reach the beach. To reach another private beach, you must up a steep ladder that has a rope leading to the waterfall. Parking was simple for us. Lots of campers, although we spent the majority of the time by ourselves. I think my favorite aspect of our coast-to-coast road journey was that magical experience. Not a hike for those in need of help. Many interesting rocks and roots to photograph;)"
"If it were just the experience, I would give it a million stars. But there is not sufficient parking for the number of permits they sell for South Coast. The parking lot was FULL and there was a line of cars (waiting 2 hours) for someone to return and move their car. There is not overflow parking and so a lot were left with parking a good distance from trail then walking significant distance to trail. The trail itself is wide, easy grade, a little over 1 mile to beach. Plenty of spots to camp and beach is a STUNNER including a waterfall on South End! Lots of tide pools and sea life. I hope all get a chance to experience - and DONT have to wait 2 hours to park."
"Third beach is 1.4 miles each way. Mostly flat until you approach the beach then it drops off and is fairly steep. The beach itself is beautiful and at low tide you can access tide pools. The bathroom (primitive) mentioned in other reviews is inaccessible until someone improves the path to it."
"Beautiful, relatively easy trail through the forest to get to Third Beach. Third Beach is beautiful, but shrouded in clouds and the fog is thick, so bring a jacket. Parking: We got there around noon on a weekday in June and the parking lot was nearly full."
"It was cold and rainy and absolutely perfect. Such a beautiful hike that continues after you hit the beach. There’s a steep ladder with a rope to climb towards the waterfall that takes you to another private beach. We got parking easy. Tons of campers but we were mostly alone the entire time. It was magical and probably my favorite part of our road trip up the coast. Not a hike for people who need assistance. Tons of cool rocks and roots to take pix on ;)"
