"WARNING BEWARE of Unscrupulous Accountants I've had the unfortunate experience of working with Stacie & Peter who turned out to be incredibly dishonest and deceptive. It is with great disappointment that I share my encounter with these individuals in the hopes of preventing others from falling victim to their conniving practices. From the onset, this accountant firm projected an air of professionalism and competence. However, as our working relationship progressed, it became apparent that their intentions were far from honest. The accountant consistently provided misleading information and manipulated figures to their advantage, all while charging exorbitant fees for their services and costing my business thousands of dollars in late fees that they were to file on time or did not file on time. One of the most concerning aspects of this accountant's behavior was their deliberate attempts to misrepresent financial transactions, leaving me vulnerable to potential legal consequences. It became evident that their primary concern was their own financial gain, rather than acting in the best interest of their clients. Moreover, their lack of transparency and evasiveness when questioned raised further red flags. It appeared that they were intentionally concealing pertinent information, making it difficult to discern the true state of my finances. This kind of behavior is not only unethical but also undermines the trust one places in their accountant. In addition to their deceptive practices, the accountant consistently failed to meet deadlines and neglected to provide essential documentation when required. This lack of professionalism further exacerbated the already frustrating situation, leaving me with a sense of regret for ever engaging their services. More reviews have been posted warning of their unscrupulous accounting practices during my time as a client, which leads me to wonder why there isn’t some type of lawsuit against this firm for malpractice. In conclusion, I strongly advise anyone seeking an accountant to exercise caution and thoroughly research their options. Be vigilant in evaluating their credibility, requesting references, and confirming their qualifications. It is essential to find an accountant who not only possesses the necessary expertise but also operates with integrity and transparency. Unfortunately, my experience serves as a reminder that there are unscrupulous individuals out there who will take advantage of unsuspecting clients for their own gain."
"Dealing with Stacy at first was great but it really didn’t take long to see how unprofessional and rude this lady really was. We made the mistake of using her again because we thought we understood her break down to help her for 2020 taxes and boy were we wrong. We had to do a lot of the work out selves as she continuously asked for more and more things done because “she needed it a certain way”. It’s pretty sad how she thinks is ok to communicate with people the way she does. Blaming us for doing things a certain way instead of educating us. Saying it’s our fault why we had to pay more taxes because we didn’t listen to her. When I talked to her about her very poor attitude and that she needs to be put in her place for being so disrespectful she hangs up on me and passes everything off to her husband. We will never be using this company again even tho we were referred to them by a long time family member."
"Warning! We have had the same negative experience as many others! Charming at first, but Stacie turned out go be unreliable, dismissive and deceitful. Above is a picture of a form she doctored up and then lied about it! Doesn't respond to emails but when she does, the replies are in cryptic shorthand, hard to understand and its it's obvious she doesn't even read the origional messages. Recently found out she didn't register our W-2s in 2016. The IRS dinged us with a $1,300 fine. She swore she filed them. She told us to come in and sign some papers. I realized she had our income wrong. Went back and forth with messages to clarify. Then she didn't respond to when we should come in and sign. After days of no response (emailed and called numerous times) her exact words were "what do you want from me?" I asked for copies of paperwork and a meeting, she said the next day at 1. I Said OK. The next message from her was what time? I said at 1 as you said. She said no, it would be later thzt day or Thursday. I said Thursday. At 7 the night before she cancelled I said OK, Monday at 10. She said OK My husband and I showed up at 10. Peter showed us in, then called Stacie to meet. She came out, obviously had just woke up (they rent an apartment above their office) and told us we were early. Told us we had changed the appointment (which we didn't). We left for an hour, got some coffee and sat in our car so she could gather herself. Came back, no apology. Had a difficult conversation. She didn't want me to open my computer to verify our income. Was throwing numbers all over the place, contradicting herself. Declared she had filed our W-2s on time. Said she had sent a letter to the IRS. Why didn't she let us know she had sent a letter? Why didn't she cc us? Why did she tell us we had to come in and sifn paperwork when she had already sent a letter??? Moved on to other subjects, she was rude and not forthcoming. Our business didn't generate alot of money but was still important to us and we want to make sure we compiled wirh the IRS filings. THEN SHE ACCUSED us of hiding money! I had no idea where this was coming from. We let her know every dime was accounted for. She was rude and snidely chuckled. She had no idea of our oast success. Has no idea we had previously been successful in flipping two houses. She didn't know we were working on a third almost paid off million+ home. In addition to the houses, the small business we started was built on integrity. We dealt with appraising items in clients homes and built our reputation on trust. We often found valuable objects, jewelry, cash, silver, gold, etc.. and always notified the clients. Even found 15K of gold coins hidden in a fridge that went straight back to the owners. They gave us a finders fee (that we declared if course!) For Stacie to question us in any way whatsoever is a total insult! After being late an hour for our meeting, she cut it short, saying she had stuff to do. I reminded her that she had her time wrong, then yelled at us to leave. I let her know when we were leaving that we experienced the same things as others and fully understood why their BBB and reviews were low. A few days later, went over the paperwork she gave us, only to see she had doctored the W-2 forms! Pictured are the two copies with contradicting dates. She sat their, tried to call us liars while she was the liar! I sent her a pic of the above photo a few weeks ago calling her on her deception, worried about our fine. No response so now am warning others. If Stacie could roll out of bed before 10 AM on a work day, maybe she could do a better job."
"I highly recommend NOT using Courtesy Accounting. They were extremely unprofessional and difficult to work with. A month and half after our consult/filing, I called them to check in and see if they had any information on our return. They told me to “relax” and not worry about it....Peter was rude and sounded annoyed on the phone. A week later they had apparently “run into a small problem” and needed me to resend another document. Turns out they lost the document and wouldn’t own up to it. That’s probably because their filing system consists of paper shoved into numerous folders stacked on the floor in their hallway. Finally, after multiple frusturating phone calls they called us into the office for the final signatures. When we sat down to review their claim, Staci came out and demanded (in a very unprofessional and condescending way) that the claim was correct and we shouldn’t waste our time reviewing it. Uh, sorry as your customer it is our right to check the work...I don’t know anyone that would go into that situation and just blindly sign documents with their personal and professional information smattered all about. She then hovered over my and my wife’s shoulder as we reviewed the claim. About a week later we get a letter from the IRS stating that there has been an error in our claim and the difference would cost us money to complete the claim for the tax year. I called the firm and Peter said again to “relax” and laughed and that’s when we decided to take our business elsewhere. When I walked into the office to retrieve the paperwork, Peter couldn’t find it...he couldn’t find our claim! Oh and by the way he didn’t apologize once and smirked. Again, I highly recommend to NOT use this service. Courtesy Accounting, working with you was some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. How you guys are an accredited business is beyond me."
"Incompetent, Unprofessional and Unresponsive. Short version: Never responded to emails. Kept telling me "two more weeks" for MONTHS! Was hesitant to even review the tax forms with me before I signed them, and now I know why. She had NO clue what she was talking about, couldn't answer simple tax questions and ended up not inputting the correct form I sent her! Stacie is INCOMPETENT!!! Long Version: I had my (very simple) taxes done here. Brought them in months ahead of the April 17th tax deadline. Was told it would take approximately 2 weeks to do once I had gathered all the necessary paper work. After emailing everything over I asked for verification that she received everything she needed. No response. Several weeks go by, I call and get apologies up and down, "it will take two more weeks." That goes by, and in the mean time I get a corrected form from the bank and I send that in asking for confirmation she has received it and will incorporate this update and again, nothing. Radio silence. Another week goes by, I call again. "So sorry, it's just sooo busy. It will be another week." Ok, no problem, I get it. We still have several weeks to tax day. A week and a half later. Nothing. Call again. "Just soooo busy" we need another week. At this point it's getting close to the deadline. Call again! Still not ready!! Finally, TWO DAYS BEFORE TAX DEADLINE taxes are finally done. Too bad they weren't done right!! That form I sent her....didn't incorporate it. Did she get it? Yup. Just "got lost". This is a tax "professional" that just "lost" a client's tax document! I asked to review the completed taxes and asked multiple times if this form was incorporated I just got blank stares. She told me she was doing me a favor by reviewing the forms and she didn't have time for these questions. Typically she would have people make an appointment in June. Are you kidding me? You can't walk me through a 1040EZ to make sure my taxes were done right, which they were NOT. Nope....That's "additional". You just want me to sign it without double checking anything.....I see why. You don't want people calling you out on your shoddy work. To be fair, they reimbursed my filing fee...So I guess I got what I paid for. Nothing."
