At Heritage, we connect students with vendors, makers, manufacturers, and other design professionals to help support and launch their careers, making them active members of the local design community. With locations in Portland, Seattle, and Denver, as well as a Virtual Program, we are expanding to offer our education in more destination cities, with a new location in Utah coming soon.
The Master Certification Program at Heritage requires a minimum of 3 terms to complete. Upon finishing the Fundamentals program, students have up to 2 years to complete all courses required for the Masters Certification Program. Graduates receive a Certificate of Interior Custom Design or a Professional Certificate of Interior Custom Design, depending on the program completed.
Over 80% of Heritage alumni find work within 6 months of graduation, with potential roles in various sectors such as residential and commercial interior design, event design, staging design, and more. Students have the option to make 3 equivalent and consecutive monthly payments for both the Fundamentals Program and Master Certification Program.
While our programs do not currently offer credits toward the NCIDQ exam, we are exploring federal accreditation to potentially allow for this in the future. Our student body is diverse, with individuals ranging from 18 to 75 years old, many of whom are pursuing a career change into Interior Design from various backgrounds. Whether you are just starting out or looking to supplement your higher education with interior design-focused training, Heritage School of Interior Design Seattle welcomes creative and passionate individuals eager to learn and succeed in the industry.

"I have been so very happy with my experience as an HSID instructor and I often compare it to my own design school education. I have a bachelor degree in interior design and am impressed with what we can teach students in 12 short weeks, including very practical skills they can immediately use upon entering the field. For example, in *my* degree program we never talked about kitchens and baths, we never learned to measure, and we never once had to work with a budget, all of which are part of the Heritage program. It’s been such a personal and professional pleasure to teach the passionate, committed, and talented folks going through our school. The design community and future clients will be in very good hands with our Heritage grads."
"I was a student at HSID, and I can confidently say that it offers a strong and intensive program that fully meets expectations. One of the main advantages of Heritage is the responsiveness and willingness of the teachers to provide assistance. They were always available for discussions and helping with problem-solving. This creates a comfortable and supportive learning environment. Another wonderful aspect of the school is the friendly and supportive community. Students collaborate, share ideas, and mutually support each other throughout the learning process. This fosters a fantastic atmosphere of cooperation and mutual inspiration. Heritage School also organizes excellent field trips where students can get acquainted with various companies and explore the industry. It is a great opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge in practice and expand professional connections. I would also like to highlight that the teachers at Heritage are practicing designers and architects themselves. They share their personal experiences and knowledge, making the learning process even more valuable and practical. Lastly, the location of the school in the Seattle Design Center is a great advantage. It is a hub of design, where students can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the professional industry and have access to modern resources and opportunities. Overall, Heritage Interior Design School is a fantastic place to learn. With its strong program, responsive teachers, friendly community, excellent field trips, and prime location, it is an ideal choice for anyone looking to develop their skills in the field of interior design."
"Taking the chance to attend Heritage was one of the best decisions I've made! Everyone there is so supportive of one another and the faculty are all so knowledgeable in their field. There's a great blend of design theory & principles with real-life, practical application and I feel really prepared to take my learnings out into the real world. I'd highly recommend Heritage for anyone with a passion for interior design and a desire to learn more!"
"When I decided to take my career in a new direction I was hesitant to go back to school. I already had a bachelors degree in business and didn't want to invest in another four years that may overlap some education I already had. I was also further down the road in my career and working full time. Heritage offered a Saturday program that was not only flexible with my time and budget but also allowed me to zero in on the disciplines I wanted to learn. After starting out on my own as an independent interior designer in 2020 I have reached out for their support and advice many times. Staff and fellow students & alum have been so supporting in the development of my career and business which I consider the most valuable attribute of being a part of Heritage."
"The educational opportunities at Heritage are exactly what one hopes for in a vocational program. The teachers are industry professionals that take great joy in sharing their hands on knowledge and experience. The school and staff are so invested in their students' success, and the environment at the Seattle Design Center is both welcoming and inspiring. What surprised me is how rigorous the studies are- you are treated as a designer capable of great things the minute you walk through the door, and if you put in the effort, that is exactly what you go on to be. I've become lifelong friends with quite a few of my classmates, and every single one has gone on to work in the field. Heritage is dedicated to getting their students working in the design world. As a student in their masters program, I have been so very thankful for all the care, attention, and support from them. I am absolutely loving my time at Heritage."
