Reviews of PTCA College Counseling
"Sean was amazing with all his support and guidance for our son. Sean made a personal connection with our son that helped guide him on the journey from high school to college. Sean has a broad knowledge base regarding academic requirements, testing, application process, school comparison and he has also helped guide the discussion about careers and what comes after college. There is a lot that Sean helped us with but one of the most valuable parts was seeing our son work independently with Sean and build life skills that will serve him well in the future. I believe this was only possible because Sean took the time to get to know our son, treated him with respect and earned his trust. Thank you!!!"
"Sean has been invaluable to my son, me, and my husband during his college planning. My son, a music composition major, began with Sean during his freshman year of high school (now a senior) and has been an incredible guide and source of support to him and me. Sean is always available for a quick question or to calm nerves; he is thoughtful and kind. He has checked in with us during key times, i.e., my son’s music auditions and interviews, to hear how it went and my son’s wellbeing in general. Sean has a vast knowledge of the entire process that has served our family extremely well, from narrowing down the institutions to apply to navigating the requirements of each one to the final acceptance and class selections, etc. It is an incredible feeling knowing that our son chose the institution he feels most comfortable at and feels will serve him well and ultimately bring him success in his studies and post-college."
"Sean has been a fantastic mentor to my son during all four high school years! As a single mom, I did not have what my son needed to hear in order to keep on track to prepare for college. Sean stepped in and provided class selection guidance without preaching. He taught my son how to discern and make good school choices throughout the years - a process he now can apply anywhere in his life, way beyond making good class choices. Having Sean there to support along the way kept us from fighting about school or studying. Sean was instrumental in keeping my son focused on college applications - making sure essays and application forms were completed timely. My son was thrilled to have been accepted to his first choice university! Now, Sean will continue to check in with my son from time to time while he is at university. I did not realize when I hired Sean that I hired a trusted life advisor as well as college guide for my child. What a gift it has been for my family to have worked with Sean - I recommend him whole-heartedly!!"
"Our three children all benefited greatly by Sean’s guidance and care, as they all found college homes where each could be successful. He genuinely cares about getting to know students well, learning their passions, future desires, and even creating a space to help students uncover their interests when they don’t know them yet. His guidance from the start of high school helped us feel supported in a process we did not understand with children looking for out of state liberal arts colleges. A specific piece of Sean’s programming and insight that was most helpful was a timeline that kept students aligned with action items, whether it be selecting proper high school classes, beginning essays or asking for recommendation letters. It’s clear he is committed to doing all he can to help students get to a successful post secondary future. We were so grateful to have had Sean's support. Alice-Marie Carr"
"Sean has been an amazing support for both of our kids. We first began working with Sean when the kids were in middle school and we worked closely with him through high school until they went to college. He helped the kids focus their energy on school and he meticulously helped them to choose classes to maximize their time. He worked tirelessly to understand their interests and strengths. Both kids opted for Running Start post-covid. Sean knew all of the counselors and instructors at WCC and guided both kids through a very successful 2 years. They both will attend their top choices for college and will graduate from high school with Associate’s degrees. Both kids were offered substantial merit scholarships for their college choices. Sean has a depth of knowledge about schools, schedules, classes, instructors, colleges and majors that parents don’t have. This creates an incredible advantage as you begin the high school years and makes the college search easier to navigate (even for parents with college degrees). We couldn't have done this without him. We highly recommend Sean. His guidance has proved essential to our children’s success and to our peace of kind."
