Reviews of Glacier Peak High School
"I am currently a Freshman at GP (LETS GO CLASS OF 2021) and i would have to give it a 3/5. Mr.Larson is new, and he tries so hard its almost inspiring. Now i'm not really sure what the security lady's name is but, honestly she is so rude to us students. She uses a lot of attitude and disrespect, its so rude and i'm surprised nobody has spoken up about it. The teachers are pretty nice, but since i'm a freshman i haven't had a chance to have many teachers, but all of mine have been so nice. I rarely eat school lunch, but when i do, it honestly isn't good. The only good food at GP comes from our D.E.C.A. Den and Grizzly Den. In all honestly i really love GP, the community doesn't really act like we are just classmates, we act like we are a FAMILY, and that's one of the things i absolutely LOVE about GP. The sports teams are amazing, i played football with the freshman boys(though i sadly didn't get to play any games) and they welcomed me in such a good way, i actually felt like i belonged and that they wanted me there(granted some of them actually DID). Glacier Peak has such an amazing community, that each year it just gets better and better!!! LETS GO GRIZZLIES!!! "
"GP students and teachers/coaches are AMAZING, I love them. But if I could give glacier peak zero stars I would, ONLY because of the administrators with the exception of Mr. Larson and Mr. Dean. First and foremost, the school looks at good kids and frames/treats them like bad kids. They suspend students for all the wrong reasons. Many of my peers have been suspended or given detensions for simply having "too many" unexcused absenses, or tardies. One of my classmates got detained at school because the admins "thought" he was selling drugs. He was falsely accused and they suspended him anyway. Not to mention it is insanely hard to get a parking pass to come to school. I myself have been going to school with the same kids my whole life and have never transferred schools. When I was 13 my parents divorced and I was forced to move out of the district. Luckily I didn't have to move schools, but since I was now varianced my parents had to start taking me and my brother to school. We both have zero period classes and are athletes so we're at school before and after everyone else. Glacier peak would not give me a parking pass the entire year, which ended up costing my dad thousands of dollars because he couldn't get to work on time. We had no way to get home and GP still wouldn't give us a pass. I am an honors student and met with the VP multiple times about the issue. One day we had a late start at 11am, neither of my parents could drive us because they both had work, so I had to park at the school, (keep in mind there is no parking on the streets around it, there's a highway on one side and a valley on the other). That day I got called down to the office and was sent home - the school suspended me. I had no other way to get to school and their solution was to suspend me for parking at my own school. Also, when I met with Mr. Loy about the suspension, he called me a "disgrace to glacier peak" and said that I "shouldnt even be going here" he also threatened to deny my variance for my senior year so I would have to graduate from snohomish. I've been with GP class of 2018 my whole life. This happened during my junior year and I am now a senior. There were three main people that worked hard to get me suspended, Mr. Peters, Mr. Loy, and Darlene Gibson (the security guard). Icing on the cake? They only suspended me for one day, and that day happened to be the VERY last day of school, which is the day of the crossover assembly, it's the iconic moment that juniors get to be come seniors. Most of us have waited since freshman year for that, and they took it away from me for no reason. They decided to PUNISH me that way for trying to get to school. Don't get me wrong, GP is a fantastic school in every other way, but the administrative authorities are completely bogus, unfair, biased, and flat out mean. That is all"
"Great community and great GP spirit/pride. Love this school with all of my heart ❤!"
"well i am a freshman but i liked the teachers and kidness of students. HUGE MINUS is a location of classes. it is confusing when you have 3rd per. on 3 floor then you need to go to room 909 outside for 4th per.."
"I would have to say that glacier peak is not a good school in my opinion. Kids are really rude, vary vary poor sportsmanship. Snohomish high school is way better. Go panthers!!!"
