"DO THE MATH (SEE BELOW) Monday: I have a Glendon septic system. The tanks are approximately 25 ft from the mounds on an a level grade. My alarm system was going off so I called Northwest Septic Maintenance and was scheduled for an appointment 4 days later. I was told the service fee would be $100 plus tax. I was perplexed when the person on the phone in the office, told me that I would be charged an *"extra 3% fee"* if I did not pay in cash. I was prepared with cash. To my surprise, "Dano's Septic" company showed up for the service call. I am contracted with Northwest Septic Maintenance for an annual inspection. During a previous call for a septic alarm going off, Northwest Septic Maintenance correctly determined that my pump had fallen off the drain pipe and was a simple fix. They threaded the pipe back into the pump. I assumed they have this on record since I have a copy of the report. ***I have since learned that "Northwest Septic Maintenance, Dano's Septics, and Dave's Septic", have been recently purchased and is currently owned by one conglomerate. Thursday: The technician arrived on time and told me this service call fee was $175. We negotiated in good faith. I was charged $110 since I paid in cash. The technician proceeded to open the tanks and both were completely filled to the top. It was diagnosed as a pump failure. The technician recommended a plastic pump, similar to the one I probably have, since it was not very powerful due to my Glendon system called a "Little Giant". (I researched this pump and learned this pump is available at the local box stores for under $200). The technician told me the replacement pump and labor would be approximately $1,700 to $2,200. I was reminded that if I paid cash, there would not be an *"extra 3% fee"* added to my bill. Friday: The next available appointment for pumping at Northwest Septic Maintenance was 5 days away on Tuesday. I was told to reduce my water usage drastically until that appointment. I set up an appointment with Northwest Septic Maintenance to have my tanks pumped for $650 to pump 650 gallons on Tuesday PM. Again, I was notified that if I paid cash, I would not be assessed an *"extra 3% fee"* on top of the $650 plus tax total amount. Friday: I called Kitsap Septic Pumping Inc. (which is locally owned and a multi-generation company) on Friday and was scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday: The Kitsap Septic Pumping Inc. technician arrived on time. During this pumping process, the technician determined the pump had indeed fallen off the drain pipe again (without physically or visually seeing the pump due to the water level after 1000 gallons were pumped). The technician pulled the pump out of the tank by the power cord, because the threading was deteriorated on the pump itself. The pump was working however, the threads were deteriorating and he recommended replacing the pump. Kitsap Septic Pumping Inc. pumped over 1,000 gallons for $750 which was billed to me after the labor was completed. Saturday: I called Aquarius Pump Company , (which is a locally owned multi-generation company), and was scheduled for Sunday at 8:00 am. The technician arrived at 7 :50 AM. Installed the pump, reinspected the system, and billed me for payment. The fee Aquarius Pump Company charged for an upgraded pump and installation was under $850. Monday: I called Northwest Septic Maintenance on Monday to find out if the $1700-$2200 bid from the technician to replace the pump was accurate. After a brief hold I was told that was indeed the average cost to replace that particular pump. I also notified Northwest Septic Maintenance the pump was not visible after pumping 1,000 gallons. I was told that I would need to reschedule a service call for an additional $110, to find out what the model number of the pump was. I would also need to have more water ($650) pumped out in order for them to see it visually OR physically. THE MATH $110+$650 +$2200+$110 +$650+ $342 tax + $111 extra no cash fee = $4173 COMPARED TO: $850+$750 plus $147 tax = $1647 $4173-$1647 = $2526"
"During the time we’ve owned our home we’ve tried multiple septic companies. NW septic was amazing at working with us when my husband was unemployed and we couldn’t afford anywhere. They are wonderful at answering any questions we may have and are quick to provide assistance. Kevin in the office is amazing! I honestly love getting to call their office and speak with him. He is so kind and upbeat and truly goes above and beyond to help the customer. If for no other reason you should switch to NW Septic just to get to work with Kevin."
"Never once did this company keep an appointment as scheduled. I understand companies get busy, but they also never follow up to let you know they will be late. They showed up a week after our scheduled appointment last summer then randomly showed up without contacting us at all this year. Recently they visited to do an inspection that they could not complete. I explained to them in an email that I was contracting a different company and I no longer wanted them to show up here. I requested a refund for the inspection that they could not complete due to the air motor not being installed. I got an email back telling me that the inspection had been completed and they will not issue a refund. So on top of terrible customer service they are also thieves. Never trust these people."
"Rich and the staff at the office are very friendly and do a good job selling their services. They do however appear extremely disorganized. Quotes are given verbally and not in writing. There is no discussion/information when the actual work exceeds the verbally quoted amount. Scheduled appointments are sometimes not adhered to (2 instances in one job) and there is to phone call made to inform the customer about this. Services that were not performed appeared on the bill, probably due to the observed severe lack of communication between the workers in the field and the office staff. Little white lies were used extensively (as in "I e-mailed you xyz a few days ago"). We don't have indication that the company does bad work, but I would certainly not ever use them again due to the issues of miscommunication and just getting the runaround all of the time. A friendly and courteous runaround - but runaround nevertheless. After getting the runaround for many weeks now, we were still not provided the promised report. No delivery on a service we paid for. Not even filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau seems to yield a solution. After reviewing the companies solid "F" rating on BBB I am not completely surprised."
