"I have business insurance with them and I am canceling it because they take days to respond to the most simple request, and give lame excuses that indicate they didn't even read my request. I can't imagine if I had to actually make a claim."
"I have had to work with the Hartford at several times a year for the past 4 years. I am given different information each time about how the "process works." They are inconsistent and resulting in a horrific and unnecessary level of stress for an already vulnerable person. I have to take leave on occasion due to PTSD and instead of spending time recovering, I have to spend that time in a state of panic because they make every step so painfully difficult. The reps are always very pleasant to work with and that is the only nice thing I have to say, because "pleasant" does nothing when you are at risk of losing your job if the Hartford doesn't do their's properly. The point of my employer using the Hartford is so that somebody with more extensive medical needs, like myself, can be covered and have job security while they recover. How is one supposed to recover when the medical need is mental health and the Hartford is kicking you while you are down at every turn? Their inconsistency and irresponsibility trigger my disorder to such an extent that it prolongs the time required for my recovery. They put the burden of responsibility on me for forms to be A: filled out by medical provider, and B: filled out correctly. Which is fine, but then they go behind my back causing confusion for my provider resulting in incorrect paperwork. If I want to keep my job, my provider must redo all the paperwork to correct the confusion. They do this EVERY TIME. They cause so much confusion and the ridiculous amount of paperwork must be redone and redone...... this makes it so hard to get a provider willing to support your needs for the sole reason that they don't want to work with the Hartford. There has to be a better option than this company."
"This company is terrible for contractors. If you are a contractor please beware of this company! This company will pay out bad claims that are made against you and when you try to talk to someone that knows anything - it’s damn near impossible. Payment has been out of my bank account for over 6 weeks and the Hartford still hasn’t processed the payment , which I’ve mentioned is important and time sensitive. I am warning all contractors against this bond and Insurance . You will be screwed if you go this route."
"seeing all these one star reviews isn’t surprising. hartford isn’t even my insurance company, but it is the woman’s who totaled my car. so far i have been doing ALL the work trying to get my insurance money so i can get a new car. i am a college student and need to get around. our claim adjuster is in a different time zone and doesn’t answer her phone during business hours. my car was totaled on december 9th 23 and it is now january 30th 24 and there has been no resolution, not even an ounce. not to mention the fact that i have given my statement to them multiple times and nothing has progressed. i am frustrated but not surprised. do better."
"I've read every review and realize just how unimportant customers are just by seeing the exact same script of a response they give to every situation. I think local news should be informed on the horrible treatment and lack of concern and diligence they have. My claim is on it's 3rd or 4th agent and with each new agent miraculously a boatload of new information is requested which is frustrating because each time all information was provided and I've just been waiting for decision . It seems that whenever it's time to pay out, they find a reason not to pay. I've gotten nothing except past due bills while dealing with the Hartford. Horrible treatment."
