Reviews of Two Dragons Karate
"I wish I could give ZERO stars. This owner is very rude and condescending. I wanted to simply talk over with my husband what him and I discussed for my son before paying up front for a private class to see where my son would best fit. I wasnt going to set anything up before discussing with my husband which caused him to rudely say "yup, thanks bye" and hang up before I even had a chance to explain why I wasnt giving him my card number. I called him back just for him to brush it off like he did nothing wrong and refused service to my family. VERY unprofessional way to do business"
"I am writing this review to share my disappointing experience with Dragons Karate. My family and I joined with high hopes of a positive martial arts journey, but unfortunately, our time with them left much to be desired. First and foremost, the issue of the mandatory one-year contract was a major source of frustration. When circumstances required us to consider an early exit, the owner's response was both inflexible and unsettling. Despite our genuine reasons for wanting to terminate the contract, we were met with a threatening attitude. The owner made it clear that he had no qualms about sending us to collections, displaying a complete disregard for our situation and a focus solely on extracting money. Another significant drawback was the lack of transparency during the classes. Surprisingly, we were never given the opportunity to observe any practices or even our kids graduating to new belts. The absence of this basic feature raised concerns about the quality and content of the classes our family members were attending. One of the advertised features of Dragons Karate is the promise to address behavioral issues in school. We opted for a one-on-one session with the owner to address concerns with our child's behavior. Unfortunately, this session turned out to be a nightmare. The instructor displayed unprofessional conduct by being unnecessarily rough, to the point where he broke a button off my son's shirt. This was not only unacceptable but also raised serious questions about the safety of the training environment. Perhaps most concerning of all is the contractual requirement to sign a waiver preventing clients from expressing any negative opinions online while still bound by the contract. This kind of clause stifles honest feedback and raises red flags about the confidence the owner has in the quality of their services. In summary, our experience at Two Dragons Karate was marred by an unwillingness to accommodate reasonable requests, a lack of transparency, unprofessional conduct during one-on-one sessions, and a concerning contractual clause limiting free expression. We strongly advise potential customers to carefully consider these issues before committing to any agreements with Dragons Karate."
"We took our daughter to an introductory class and ended up signing up but then had to cancel shortly after due to some unforeseen issues on our end. We had no issues getting ahold of staff, writing our statement and returning the necessary unused equipment for a refund. Soke and Michelle were understanding of our needs and helpful and quick with responses and very kind. I gave four stars because our daughter didn’t participate in a class! Every interaction we have had with Two Dragons Karate has been pleasant."
"My two daughters have been attending Two Dragons Karate for 3 phases now, about 9 months, and still love it. My more "energetic" child has something to focus on and is concentrated on learning skills she is proud of and wants to show off. My other daughter has always been more low-key and less confrontational than her sister. She was excited to start karate and she chose to sign up after meeting Mr. Will, but we thought the aggressiveness of the contact sport would turn her off. It didn't. She is still excited to go to every lesson. My girls are active, they have other sports, music, afterschool activities, and attend Two Dragons Karate three times a week. Contrary to other reviews, I have found the school to be very accommodating. Every time another activity gets scheduled during a karate lesson, I contact Two Dragons Karate and they have no problem moving the girls to another class temporarily, even if it's full. The girls recently moved to a new class time permanently because their piano classes got moved and conflicted with karate when the piano school changed its scheduling. Two Dragons Karate had no problem accommodating. I have only one complaint, and I admit it's small. There is no spectator area for parents or family. It's not a surprise, they let you know before you sign up and they point out the absence of spectator seating when you tour the school. They also explain why, it keeps parents from trying to coach their own kids from the side, which distracts and confuses everybody. The many positives far outweigh my single small complaint, but even still I wouldn't dare say Two Dragons Karate is for everyone, but nothing is. If you are considering this school then you need to realize you have to make it a family priority. My girls have fun, but that fun is intended to be secondary or even tertiary to the discipline and skills being taught. If you are looking for someplace for kids to just have fun and expel energy, look elsewhere. Two Dragons Karate is a serious school with serious structure requiring serious commitment from not just the students, but the family who supports them. However, if you put in the effort you will get results. Not just in a rainbow of belts, but in newfound confidence, improved athleticism, emotional strength, and the pride that comes with overcoming difficult tasks. My girls now know they can do hard things, and they sometimes still complain, but they know they can't make excuses."
"Yes, I too tried to quit two dragons karate because my son was not enthusiastic about it after a few months and I had lost my job. No considerations were made except him wanting to have a meeting with my son which would have put guilt on him to continue and not give up. He wanted to join the YMCA where we could do things together. I am finally on my last month's payments...I believe and I will be very cautious in the future. His sons are great but I think that if there is a family is experiencing hardships there should be some consideration. Not more stress for the family. I'm glad for everyone that is dedicated to this sport but maybe there should be a trial period before locking them in to a contract to make sure this is the right place for them."
