"I can’t even Deposit a check at a ATM. It’s a waste of time."
"Beth StJames was phenomenal and is a very sweet person who really cares about her customers and is willing to go the extra mile for them. Her customer service is phenomenal!"
"One star, because zero wasn’t an option. This bank pretends to care about people but they only care about their bottom line, even in the trying times of a global pandemic . Whew, anyway, onto Columbia Bank itself, this branch in particular. The manipulative practice of absorptive over draft is this banks (like many) bread and butter. Even during these trying times do to Covid. In the last sixty days, I’ve been out of work and my unemployment benefits barely cover my half of necessity’s. My account over drew due to a very small charge for an app subscription I forgot to cancel and, because my bank account was connected to PayPal, this went through as an eCheck. When this happens, PP will force the transaction 3 times before they give up and once it begins, there is no stopping it. Also manipulative, I know. This happened for three separate subscriptions, so, 9 x$35 plus the $5 fees for having your account over draw for several days..all added up to almost $400 over the last sixty days. I was called by a representative of the bank, though not this branch, and we spoke about what to do about it. I had just started a new job and was working plenty of hours and I was just waiting for my first check to hopefully get some things straightened out but we both agreed the fees on fees weren’t helping anyone. They said they were reaching out to this branch and making a case to give me some relief as only $30 was principal and all the rest of my overdrawn balance fees. The banks fees they don’t even need, they simply choose to aggressively inflict on those who are already in the margins. I was never contacted , and when I went to check if my direct deposit was going on, o was locked out of my account.account closed. I spoke with customer care and they could see the notes the representative had left on my account pertaining to our phone call not even ten days ago but that I would have to go to my branch to sort things out. So I did. They said they made an appeal to the region to at least get some of the fees waved but that my account would remain closed no matter what, and, that I now have sixty days to pay back the money I owe the bank (about $30) and, another $360 in fees they are CHOOSING to inflict on me. Do they need to? No. Greed is the only reason. Ian, the branch manager even confessed to me today on the phone that it feels horrible to have to tell people they are going to be pressured and manipulated by the institution he works for. I just wonder why go on doing it then if it makes you feel so bad? This bank, just like any other bank, enjoys the $34.6 BILLION a year sludge fund that is absorptive overdraft fees. Even having been put on notice by law makers to stop this abusive practice during the pandemic, greed dictates Columbia Banks practices as it does with most other financial institutions. Do not bank here. I ask you to please discontinue banking here and join a local credit union. My partner has banked here since they have had a bank account and they are leaving after this, and also their parents as they can not be accomplices to the fleecing of people down on their luck do to Covid-19. This bank doesn’t even have good customer service for basic banking transactions."
"This bank is horrific. They mask as caring about customers when in reality, all they care about is profits; minimal profits from overdraft fees from already struggling people due to COVID. Have they no heart? No decency? No level of understanding that someone is trying their absolute best during this most difficult time and closes their account without warning anyways. It is cruel at best. I highly recommend that anyone looking to bank with Columbia Bank does not do so. Especially not at the SE Grand branch as the employees there are rude and have a complete lack of empathy. Do yourself a favor and avoid this bank like the plague that it is. I am giving one star because zero stars isn't an option."
"I'm very happy with the service I've received at this, and every other, Columbia Bank branch. I have several business and personal accounts with them. I've needed help with several oddball requests, and they've risen to the occasion every time."
