Son Rise Ranch
About the Business
Son Rise Ranch is a unique institution located in Vancouver, Washington, offering a variety of horseback riding lessons and programs year round. From weekly riding lessons to summer camps, horse leasing programs, and work/staff programs for students, Son Rise Ranch is dedicated to promoting teamwork, community, family, empowering attitudes, and building character.
Our programs are based on Christian principles, specifically teachings from Romans Chapter 12. We believe in shaping hearts and minds to overcome negative influences and embrace positivity, respect, responsibility, and diligence. Through equine activities, youth can develop valuable life skills such as problem solving, decision making, discipline, self-esteem, and leadership.
In today's digital age, where physical social interaction is often lacking, our programs encourage youth to engage in outdoor activities and develop physical coordination and interaction skills. We believe in new beginnings and the freedom of choice to change one's life for the better, just like the sunrise of a new day.
At Son Rise Ranch, we also focus on mentoring at-risk youth and celebrating achievements with moral guideposts. Our goal is to create meaningful experiences and turn troubled youth into mentors and achievers. Dr. Ann Swinker has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of horse involvement in the lives of troubled youth, giving them a sense of pride and direction.

"There is only one horse available for lessons so the kids have to take turns to ride. You might get less than 10 mins on a horse for a 1 hour lesson. Also they charged by "program" so they did not offer make up lesson even when the coach cancelled the lesson for personal reason. Good for young kids who wanted to try riding and petting animals for one time but perhaps not for serious long term riders."
"son rise ranch is where i found my spark for riding horses. ms. pam, all her wonderful staff, and animals are all pleasing to be around, and at son rise ranch you not only learn riding, but horsemanship and sportsmanship too! this is the perfect place to learn how to ride and take care of horses! :)"
"Pam is an amazing lady. She has done so much for my daughter and taught her so much. She teaches the kids not only how to ride, but also how to take care of the horses. She spends endless hours taking the kids on field trips, campouts, fairs, parades, and amazing summer camps. I would highly reccomend this amazing woman and her camp! Thank you Pam!"
"I love the horses and assistant instructor and the lead instructor!!! I love my buddy and the people I have classes with. They are all so helpful and sweet and they really care about the fact that you are willing to pursue a dream with horses. I just had my first lesson today and it is amazing!!! They have ducks that walk around, a cat, and two dogs that stay in a cage and a llama. Their horses are sweet and willing and I definetely suggest this place if you want horseback riding lessons. I have zero horse experience and I learned a lot in the three hours I was there. It was fun and I was constantly happy and excited."
"My daughter was looking for lessons and we noted the many activities available with sonrise. The website was out of date so we drove out on class day to take a look. CHA instructor Miss Pamila invited us to play and Emily joined on the spot. She was thrilled to join the campout celebrating the close of the school year. She looks forward to joining a week-long day camp in July. I can't express the joy my child gets working with the horses; Miss Pam emphasizes horse science and history with each lesson. The price is so low, it makes it easy to fit in the budget. My family are joining the Sonrise family at the annual campout this August for more community building."
