"My kids have participated in swim team and water polo here as high school students, and there is also a competent dive team. They have also swam laps as exercise in the mornings. The pool is of average high school/community pool quality."
"The only time you can access this pool is from 6-7:30am Mon - Friday. What kind of community pool is this ???? Doesn't seem to much of a community pool considering they accepted $2 million dollars in COVID relief money to fix it up. It's not fixed at all and at these hours no one but lane swimmers are in there. The clocks don't even work on the walls. :/ I wouldn't call this a "community pool". That would imply the community could actually use it at various times more than just 1-1/2hrs at the crack of dawn. This is ridiculous. It's the Kitsap high school pool and they only allow people to use it on a very limited basis. How's about getting some later hours so people who don't have an hour in the early morning can come in the later evening to swim. And they stop exactly on time. Don't think you've got an extra 5 min to wash off or change. Nope. They pretty much kick u out wet and water logged."
"Great staff and prices are reasonable. Water temperature is a bit to cold for little ones especially babies. The kids are shivering the entire time some even have blue lips. Makes it hard for them to want to stay in the water"
"Just moved to the area and went to a Wednesday evening lap swim. I've been swimming at community pools since childhood and expected an imperfect space but it was worse than I thought. First, employees didn't seem to be expecting paying customers, I was there 20 min before and had to ask staff on the pool deck to take my money. Second, they did not set up regular lap lanes, I shared a single rope lane with a free diver and another lap swimmer. Third, the locker room was a mess I went around and picked up garbage off the floors before braving the showers. Fourth, the amount of rust and mildew on the ceilings, lockers and pool decks was uncomfortably noticeable. Overall I was upset that this community pool doesn't currently receive more attention! It's the only one in the Port Orchard area, where are fitness swimmers supposed to go!? A local friend let me know that a significant amount of the Kitsap School Levy will be used for pool improvement, which is a relief but could take a few years. Pool staff throw a fundraiser or something to get more maintenance funding, please!!"
"I love going to South's Open swim on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:30-8pm. It only costs $3.50. Friday nights are pretty empty but Saturday nights has a lot of kids. They also have designated lanes for lap swimming. Definitely would recommend to a friend and will be back again!"
