"Mount Vernon Tax Solutions Accountant Mark Heistad is an incompetent accountant and a liar. He said “I always get my taxes in on time” and this is not true. We gave him our documents nearly a month ahead of the April 15th tax deadline and thought all was finished on our part. Unfortunately Mark didn’t let us know something was missing until we called several weeks later to find out why we didn’t have our completed taxes. We then gave him the missing documents still a week ahead of tax deadline and Mark missed the tax deadline and filed our taxes late. He only files taxes on time if you owe money and are on top of him. After Mark finally filed our taxes, an amendment was needed. Unfortunately Mark amended the wrong year (2019 instead of 2021) he also copied and submitted our wrong mailing address to the IRS and refused to correct it so we couldn’t get our refund check mailed properly. Mark told us to call the IRS ourselves which takes hours and hours to get through. Do not use this service! The office staff is very nice and helpful but the accountant Mark Heistad is extremely incompetent, doesn’t accurately follow up/check his work, misses deadlines and he lies."

"I went with Mark at Mount Vernon Tax Solutions because he said he always gets returns done on time. I had a situation where I needed my return fast. It turns out that if you are getting a refund, he intentionally files your return late. I reminded him of my urgency yet he took his time. Then I needed one line revised, and he charged me the full price of doing a return from scratch so I got one return filed for the price of two. He only gives either paper or digital copy of your return but not both. This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had with an accountant. Go anywhere else."

They have always done a great job for me, even sending me reminders for my quarterly excise taxes, which helped me avoid late fines!
