Reviews of Portland Community College Rock Creek
"The abysmal wifi at PCC Rock Creek hinders students ability to access study material, follow lectures, and even receive updates via call/text. In the event of any campus emergency they would leave their students in the dark."
"There are some pretty good professors. Most online classes are designed well and are great for working students/ people that just need flexibility. There is very little to no club activity in most PCC clubs. It's hard to reach staff members who run clubs, and you won't be able to participate in the ones you join. If you're thinking about joining Phi Theta Kappa from the emails they send, it's only worth it if you know you qualify for the scholarships. If transferring to a university, please know if you're going to directly transfer or get an A.S./ A.A. and then transfer. The advisors do not do a good job of explaning the difference between the two."
"Today I purchased the loaded fry burrito at the cafeteria. "Fries, carne asada, and all your favorite toppings!" read the flier. I expected guac and beans, perhaps I would be so lucky as to stuff some Spanish rice down my gullet... no. The foil cylinder was a generous seven inches long and the girth of your average car mechanic's forearm. As I ate with self-conscious bites, hoping no one was watching me cover my face in little bits of lettuce, the burrito began to puzzle me. There were, upon immediate inspection, no beans. The fries took center stage along with a melange of lettuce, tomato, and carne asada. Salsa only revealed itself when I unfurled the bludgeon to add a bit of Tapatio, concentrated near the bottom. As I worked my way down, I became more confused, and the burrito enlightened me to its colorful cultural origin; this was no ordinary Latin American portable meal. I was struck by the familiar herby tang of Italian dressing in the lettuce, was that white sauce ranch or tzatziki? And upon further inspection, there were black olives amongst the canned jalepeño and sliced red onions (red onions?). The multicultural sustenance chode kept me full until 6pm (I bought it at 11 and have a small stomach). As soon as I bit into an evening slice of toast, the burrito began knocking on the back door. I made two trips to the evacuation station over the course of an hour, and the call may yet soon come again. This burrito will keep you sated, but be warned, it demands a terrible toll. I highly recommend this campus's trails! The efforts taken to restore native biomes on this site have been greatly rewarding to witness. I am in the LAT program and Elizabeth Brewster has been my teacher for multiple courses, I would recommend her Pest and Weed ID course to anyone interested in learning about the flora under their feet or seeking ecologically safe options for protecting their garden :)"
"Good place for your daily walks. The place is well maintained. There is also a trail alongside the courts."
"Very nice campus. Pretty large and well maintained, with a few open areas. The buildings are well maintained too. They always seem very clean, and look good. I've only taken a few classes, so I can't speak for the overall quality of the education yet. However, I can say that in the few classes I've taken, the teachers have always been helpful when I've needed help, but usually teach well enough that I don't need to ask for it. The only complaint that I would have is that some of the computers, specifically in the math classes, just don't work well enough. I made the mistake of Microsoft Edge in addition to 3 chrome tabs, and the computer completely crashed. However, in the classes that really require it, such as computer science, the computers work fine. Overall, this college has a great campus and great teaching, and a good cost, so I would recommend it."
