"I'm inclined to agree with only other review of this place. I'm almost at the end of the second year of readiness hearings for my "trial". I have been passed between a total of four public defenders and all of them except my current one couldn't have shown any less interest. The communication is kept to below the bare minimum. (I've been told I had to appear at least three different hearings that I was given the wrong day for or not told about)The interactions I observe between the judge, prosecutors and public defenders of Island County's Superior Court are far too friendly, personal and just unprofessional for anyone on trial to feel any comfort at the idea this justice system even approaches "fair". There is definitely a underlying theme of getting rid of all of their cases as quickly as they can leaving the impression the prosecutors have far too much control over the court room. Also if you have legitimate questions about what's going on while in court, be sure not to ask them even if it's your turn to speak, they wont be answered and for some reason both the judge and prosecution seem to have no tolerance for them even when they are asked politely. I could write a small book on the weird and disconcerting things I've observed in court but I'll leave my review at just this. Beware this does not at all coincide with what you are taught in American Government classes. They have already stolen way too much of my time."
"Recommend firing them at the first possible opportunity. These people do the worst possible "job" and are essentially asleep at the wheel when they represent you. By law the court is required to appoint you a capable lawyer, these people are not capable, it's a scam, don't make the same mistake I did thinking these jerks will represent you. Matt Montoya especially, can't believe he's still hanging on after years, he has never successfully represented anybody by except to hand them to his real boss the prosecutor. Better to represent yourself than to have these clowns lie to you face."
