"I very much enjoyed my time here as part of SFI's very first Acting for Film program. We were fortunate to have a great staff of working, Pacific Northwest actors of both film and theatre (many of whom also taught at other schools, including Shoreline Community College and Cornish College of the Arts), as well as an amazing, local casting director. A couple months into the program, the tiny school already felt like home. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and it was easy to make friends/connections in the lobby with filmmakers, writers, makeup artists, directors, editors, etc. I also highly enjoyed taking part in several of their short film projects. This school does need improvement in organization, quality of equipment, holding accountability of student project completion, and active response to student evaluation feedback. Since graduation, I have returned to take classes and have seen improvements in some of these aspects, but there is still a long way to go. Nonetheless, I recommend this school for aspiring actors who would enjoy small, intimate classes with one-on-one feedback and making great friends/connections along the way."
"The faculty is super knowledgeable and passionate. It's easy to get one-on-one meetings with them and in the classroom I really recommend telling them when they go on a tangent, because that does tend to happen a lot with a few. There's a great selection of gear for checkout and collaborating with fellow enthusiastic students on projects is really special so cherish it! Do more projects than you're assigned, I guarantee you'll want to use every second you have access to each other."
"Worst decision of my life to co-sign a loan for my daughter to go here. Mediocre at best, openly sexist teachers, and they didn’t follow through with the promised internship (something I had asked specific and pointed questions about). I have never left a review like this anywhere, but I’m bitterly disappointed in the experience she had at SFI. After months of pressure they helped her get placed at a horrible company that’s since closed its doors and left her in a real bind. Do some serious homework before shelling out the kind of money they’re charging."
"I took two of the evening extension classes, Fundamentals of Film, and the Advanced Editing Class. Both instructors were absolutely amazing. The experience with the school was incredible, each staff member was so attentive to me when registering and when I had questions. Many times instructors and staff reached out to me to make sure I was learning what I wanted to learn. Furthermore, wealth of knowledge of all the instructors was so vast, I only regret having but a few weeks to learn from them. I hope to be back in these classes soon!"
"This school is great. I have one quarter left and I have no regrets about signing up here. Great staff that listens to the students. I feel confident that I will be working in this industry after graduating. This is a great place for veterans as they are accredited. I am currently using my post 9/11 GI Bill."
